Introduction model overview

Romain Gautier "Logical One"
Manual winding (Cal. LogicalOne). 37 jewels (plus 26 fusées). 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 46 hours. 18KWG (diameter 43mm). Water resistant to 5 bar. Price: 18 million yen (excluding tax).

This is a representative model of Romain Gauthier. It is equipped with a fusee-and-chain mechanism at the 8-10 o'clock position as a constant-force device. With conventional fusee-and-chain systems, the chain is wound around the fusee multiple times, which requires each link to be small, making them brittle. Furthermore, the chain used by the barrel to pull the fusee transmits power at an angle, reducing efficiency.

To solve these problems, the Logical One uses a snail cam at the 10 o'clock position that moves counterclockwise by up to 300 degrees, and winds the chain around the wheel at the 8 o'clock position once over the course of the watch's 46-hour power reserve. Each chain is also set with a ruby to reduce friction.
