In a modified time machine, the DeLorean (also known as the DMC-12), the protagonist travels freely through the present, past, and future. Back to the Future, a sci-fi masterpiece that continues to be loved 35 years after its release in 1985, is the film by Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis. The main character, Marty McFly, was played by Michael J. Fox, who we will introduce here.

He was 24 years old in the first Back to the Future film, but next year, in 2021, he will be 1 years old. What kind of watch is he wearing now? The photo was taken in 2015. Let's take a look at his wrist. The watch in the photo is from the Cartier Panthère series.

パンテール

The Panthère de Cartier was created by Cartier in 1983. It is a watch characterized by a square case, a two-tiered bezel secured with screws, and a bracelet with links reminiscent of a leopard's paw prints (panthère). There are many derivative models, and at first glance, some elements resemble the Santos. However, as the name "Panthère," an important icon symbolizing Cartier, suggests, its elegant lines set it apart. It primarily uses quartz movements and is available in both men's and women's styles. While production was temporarily discontinued, it was revived in 2017, and the women's lineup is currently being expanded.

The dial in the photo has a second hand and date display, suggesting that it may be the Panthère Figaro, which was released in the early 1990s from the Panthère series.

The following photo, posted on Instagram by Cartier expert George Kramer, compares the Panthère Figaro and Santos. While both share common features, such as a square case and a two-tiered bezel secured with screws, they each have different personalities, one more rugged and the other more elegant. The white dial model shown at the bottom of the photo is the Panthère Figaro, which is believed to be the same as the one worn by Michael J. Fox.

Michael J. Fox is also known for his Parkinson's disease. He was diagnosed at the age of 30, during the filming of Back to the Future Part III. He retired from acting for a time, but returned to the stage, and while he was fighting the disease, he continues to encourage others with the disease, including through activities such as funding Parkinson's disease research. The timeless design of the Panthère Figaro is always on his wrist.
