Sinn is a special watch that Germany is proud of.

To create a watch that can be used and enjoyed for a lifetime, it is necessary to thoroughly pursue the desired functionality and have the superior technology to realize it to the highest degree.

Sinn, which places the utmost importance on functionality, is a watch brand that does not disappoint in terms of quality.

Let's take a closer look at the background of Gin, which is often described as simple and sturdy and trusted by hard-working professionals.

Professional specifications created by a former pilot

156.B

The 156.B can be said to be the origin of the Sinn chronograph.

Sinn was founded in Germany in 1961. Its founder, Helmut Sinn, was a pilot in the German Air Force during World War II.

From that experience, Sinn deeply understood that the most important thing for a pilot is a watch that is an extremely accurate measuring instrument. To embody this importance, Sinn began to produce aviation watches.

Lothar Schmidt

The owner since 1994 has been Lothar Schmidt, who is the creator of the unique technologies that are now known as Sinn Technology.

With professional specifications in mind, the company boldly took on the challenge of developing a watch that resembled aviation equipment. One of the first watches they completed, the 156.B, was so precise that it could withstand the harsh conditions of flight, and was adopted by the German Air Force.

Germany is known as a country with high technological capabilities in the machinery industry, and Sinn is also renowned for its outstanding development capabilities, having been active in German customs special forces, police special forces, and rescue teams.

Simple design that emphasizes functionality

The greatest feature of Sinn is its outstanding simplicity, achieved by pursuing functionality to the fullest. Although the exterior gives an impression of impersonality, what emerges is a sense of ultimate realism.

Sinn watches are not influenced by trends and prioritize functionality, setting them apart from watches from other manufacturers.

The brand has consistently maintained its focus on creating watches for professionals, and is supported by watch enthusiasts who find romance in its rugged pursuit of functionality, as well as users who place great trust in its unwavering beliefs.

The special technology behind gin's popularity

Sinn is actively developing its own unique technology and boasts outstanding precision among professional watches, earning it high praise from both general users and avid watch enthusiasts. Let's take a look at the special technology behind its popularity.

Hydro and TEGIMENT Processing

Hydro System

The one on the left is one filled with special oil, and the one on the right is one without. The special oil not only increases the internal pressure, but also has a refractive index almost identical to that of glass, ensuring visibility underwater.

Diving watches require pressure resistance. In many cases, this is achieved by making the case thicker, but Sinn takes the approach of injecting special oil into the case.

The hydro system, which applies Pascal's principle, pushes back the external air pressure with an internal pressure equal to that applied, achieving 5000m water resistance without increasing the thickness of the case.

Tegiment also provides scratch resistance that is equal to or greater than the hardness of ceramics. This is achieved by hardening the watch case through a carburizing process using nitrogen.

In addition, black PVD coatings are now always combined with TEGIMENT (black hard coating). Applying a coating to the hardened surface reduces peeling and wear of the colored layer.

Ar Dry Technology and Special Lubricating Oil

Dry capsule

A dry capsule filled with a special desiccant removes moisture from inside the watch case.

A movement is made up of many parts, and lubricating oil is essential to keep each part working smoothly. However, moisture and water vapor can cause the oil to deteriorate, which can lead to malfunctions.

For this reason, Sinn has taken thorough measures against humidity using "Ar Dry Technology," which consists of three technical elements: the incorporation of a dry capsule, the use of EDR packing, and the filling of the product with protective gas.

Jin Special Oil

Sinn's special oil maintains the accuracy of timekeeping as specified by DIN (German Industrial Standards) even at temperatures as low as -45°C, when frost would form thickly on the case.

The lubricating oil used is also special: ordinary oil becomes viscous at temperatures around -25°C, making it difficult to maintain the accuracy of the watch.

However, the special oil "66-228" developed by Sinn maintains its viscosity down to -66°C and does not evaporate until +228°C, allowing the watch to continue to keep accurate time in any location, from extremely cold to scorching hot.
