To celebrate its 160th anniversary this year, TAG Heuer has introduced new versions of its iconic Carrera model. The two models, a cleverly redesigned remake of the 1960s model and the Montreal, with its 70s-inspired coloring, are not to be missed. Featuring the in-house Caliber Heuer 02 movement in a 39mm case, these are undeniably retro-style chronographs.

TAG Heuer Carrera 160th Anniversary Silver Dial Limited Edition

A reissue of the 1964 model. It retains the classic Carrera features, such as the shape of the lugs and the bezel ring. Automatic (Cal. Heuer 02). 33 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve of approximately 80 hours. Stainless steel (39mm diameter). Water resistant to 100m. Limited to 1860 pieces worldwide. Price: 695,000 yen.
The TAG Heuer Carrera 160th Anniversary Silver Dial Limited Edition was released as a reissue of the 1964 2447S. Thanks to advances in digital scanning technology, it's now common to see reissues that perfectly replicate the original design. However, this new model features minor changes, such as an enlarged case diameter from 36mm to 39mm and a lowered subdial. The former is likely due to the in-house Heuer 02 chronograph and 100m water resistance. The latter is likely to add a three-dimensional effect to the dial. Still, it retains the Carrera's distinctive features, such as the slender lugs and the tension ring on the faceplate with printed scales, making it a viable reissue of the 2447S. Considering the dial's refined appearance with the removal of the decimal point scale, it's safe to say that the decision to avoid a faithful reissue was a good one.
TAG Heuer Carrera 160th Anniversary Montreal Limited Edition

This model incorporates the Heuer Montreal color scheme into the Carrera. The "MONTREAL" logo has been changed to "CARRERA." Automatic (Cal. Heuer 02). 33 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve of approximately 80 hours. Stainless steel (diameter 39mm). Water resistant to 100m. Limited to 1000 pieces worldwide. Price: 730,000 yen.
The other model, the TAG Heuer Carrera 160th Anniversary Montreal Limited Edition, incorporates the design codes of the Montreal, which was released in 72. The original Montreal was a separate collection with a cushion case integrated with the lugs, but the design of the subdials, including the 30-minute counter, uses the distinctive red, blue, and yellow of the 72 model. As a result, the Carrera, which is originally a completely different watch, has been successfully given the look and feel of the Montreal. Flexibility in design is a common feature of the reissue models.
Both models are equipped with the Heuer 02 movement, which has a power reserve of approximately 80 hours, and are water resistant to 100m, making them extremely practical. Enjoy the atmosphere of the 1960s and 1970s without worrying about modern specifications.
