Submersible Azzurro - 42mm

Panerai has begun selling an e-commerce exclusive model, the "Submersible Verde Militare - 42mm" PAM01055. The long-awaited second model is the "Submersible Azzurro - 42mm" with a beautiful blue ceramic bezel.

Beautiful azure color submersible

Panerai has released two limited edition models. The first is the "Submersible Azzurro - 42mm." The name comes from the matte blue ceramic ring (Azzurro is Italian for light blue) that is integrated into the eye-catching unidirectional rotating bezel. The cushion-shaped case is crafted from 316L steel with a satin finish and measures 42mm in diameter.

The water resistance of 300m is ensured by a patented locking crown protector and screw-down case back at the 3 o'clock position of the case. There are two reasons why "Azzurro" was used as the theme color.

First, it's a color that evokes the deep ocean, the watch's "homeland," and second, because Azzurro is Italy's national color, according to Florence-based Panerai.

The green-blue luminous paint on the hands and indexes stands out beautifully against the matte black dial. Its high visibility in the dark reminds us that this is a diver's watch.

The movement is the in-house Cal.P.900, with 23 jewels, beating at 28,800 vph, and a single barrel for a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. It is presented on a black rubber strap with a satin-finish buckle, and a spare Sportec Velcro strap is also available.

The Submersible Azzurro - 42mm is limited to 500 pieces worldwide and will be sold exclusively through Panerai's e-commerce platform. It will be priced at 108 million yen.

Luna Rossa's latest model features yacht parts on the dial

Another limited edition model is the result of a partnership with the Panerai-sponsored Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli yacht team, which is participating in the Prada Cup, a race that will take place ahead of the 36th America's Cup in 2021.

The eye-catching dial of the Luminor Luna Rossa GMT - 42mm is crafted from Scaphotec, a high-tech polymer material made from carbon fiber harvested from the hulls and hydrofoils of Luna Rossa's AC75 yacht.

The bezel is made from Carbotech, a material Panerai introduced a few years ago, and both materials give the watch a distinctive texture. Prada and Luna Rossa's signature red is featured on the tips of the small seconds hand and the central GMT hand.

The 42mm case is crafted from sandblasted titanium and, like the Submersible Azzurro, features a crown protector. The dial features a sandwich construction with indexes and is filled with white Super-LumiNova, which glows bright green in the dark.

Inside the solid dodecagonal screw-down caseback is Panerai's automatic movement, Caliber P.9010, which has a double barrel ensuring a power reserve of approximately 72 hours and drives the hours, minutes, small seconds, date display and GMT sub-hour hand.

The case back is engraved with the Luna Rossa logo, and the strap features matching stitching in a matching color scheme and a titanium buckle. A spare black rubber strap will also be available, along with a replacement tool. The watch is scheduled for release in January 2021, priced at ¥119 million.
