A central tourbillon that pursues the sound of Breguet pocket watches

Haldimann watches are almost entirely handmade by just five people, including independent watchmaker Beat Haldimann. One of the brand's signature pieces is the H1 Flying Central, a watch with a central tourbillon, featuring a flying tourbillon in the center of the dial.

When you think of a Haldimann watch, the first thing that comes to mind is the beauty of its finish. Not only are the individual parts of the carriage, which can be seen from 1 minute 36 seconds onwards, but also the circular finishing on the three barrels from 50 seconds onwards, and even the elaborately shaped hour and minute hands, which can be seen in close-up from 2 minutes 39 seconds onwards, are all hand-finished by hand, a process that is controlled by hand.

From the perspective of this series, you can't miss the 18,000 vibrations per hour beat, which Abraham-Louis Breguet, the creator of the tourbillon, aimed to make, among other things, the sound of a pocket watch made by Breguet. The sound emitted from the large escapement located in the center of the dial is reverberated loudly by the raised dome-shaped crystal, making its presence known even on the wrist.

The volume is just like that of a pocket watch. Even without seeing the actual watch, it's clear from this video that Haldimann's statement that "we aimed to replicate the ticking sound of a Breguet pocket watch" is not just position-setting.

Experience the beauty of this unique high complication, created using modern techniques from the golden age of mechanical watches, with both your eyes and your ears.
