Luminox began its partnership with Bear Grylls, the survival adventurer and star of the American TV show "Man vs. Wild," in 2020, and subsequently launched the "Bear Grylls Survival" collection for tough outdoor adventures. In 2021, Luminox announced the addition of a new "Air" series to the collection, featuring world time and GMT functions.

Luminox "Bear Grylls Survival" Collection
Like the existing Bear Grylls Survival models, the new series is available with a durable Cordura strap or a stainless steel Milanese-style mesh bracelet, thoroughly tested and approved by Grylls himself, who was involved in the design and development. The 45mm stainless steel case houses a quartz movement with a built-in worldtimer. This travel-friendly feature features an orange-tipped GMT hand indicating a second time zone on a 24-hour ring and a bidirectional rotating bezel featuring the names of 24 cities around the world, each representing a different time zone. According to Luminox, the cities chosen are "home to some of the world's most advanced special forces." (Grylls served in the British Special Air Service (SAS)). The bezel is crafted from Luminox's proprietary Carbonox alloy, and the city ring features an aluminum inlay.

The crystal is made of sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. The black dial features stencil-style hour markers, sword-shaped hands, a date display at 4:30, and an orange center line with Grylls' motto, "NEVER GIVE UP." The screw-down crown also has an orange rubber ring, ensuring an easy grip and 200m of water resistance.

In keeping with Luminox's brand identity, the dial remains legible even in dark environments. This is achieved through Luminox Light Technology (LLT), which uses small tubes filled with tritium gas, providing a glow that lasts for up to 25 years. Unlike Super-LumiNova, the luminous paint used in many other watches, tritium is a radioactive substance, meaning it glows naturally without a light source or prior light absorption.

The movement is made by Swiss company Ronda and has a battery life of approximately four years from the date of manufacture. The Cordura strap model is priced at 80,000 yen (excluding tax), while the Milanese bracelet model is priced at 85,000 yen (excluding tax).
