The central tourbillon, which is still rarely used in models today
A "center tourbillon" places the tourbillon carriage in the center of the dial. With the spread of CAD and CNC lathes, it is now possible to design and manufacture parts with high precision, and tourbillon-equipped watches are no longer a rare mechanism.
However, even among the many tourbillon-equipped watches, only a few manufacturers are currently able to adopt a center tourbillon, which requires the fourth wheel to be positioned at the center, due to the space constraints of the gear train.
Omega has been using such central tourbillons since the late 1990s, and their latest model, the De Ville Tourbillon Numbered Edition, is equipped with this mechanism and has earned Master Chronometer certification, achieving high magnetic resistance up to 15,000 gauss and high accuracy of 0-5 seconds per day.
Introduction model overview

Manual winding (Cal. 2640). 50 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 72 hours. 18K Sedna gold x 18K Canopus gold (diameter 43mm, thickness 12.7mm). Water resistant to 30m. Price: 18,800,000 yen (excluding tax).
This Master Chronometer-certified central tourbillon movement is not limited in number, but because it is handcrafted by a small number of artisans at Atelier Tourbillon over a period of approximately one month, only a very limited number is available on the market. To emphasize its rarity, an individual number is engraved in the center of the movement. The case is made of Omega's unique, fade-resistant 18K Sedna gold and 18K Canopus gold.
