Tudor's New Watches for 2021

Black Bay Ceramic

　This ambitious watch features a ceramic caseback and crown, with the majority of its exterior crafted from ceramic. Its greatest feature is its Master Chronometer certification, which requires passing eight tests, including ultra-high magnetic resistance of 15,000 gauss and a daily deviation of 0-+5 seconds when in its casing. Until now, only Omega watches had passed the Master Chronometer certification, inspected and certified by METAS (Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology), but this timepiece marks the first time a watch from another brand has been certified. While ceramics typically do not allow for a screw-down caseback, this timepiece features a grooved stainless steel inner case, into which the stainless steel caseback screws down, ensuring a high water resistance of 200 meters.

Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze

　This bronze model joins the Black Bay Fifty-Eight line, whose design originates from the 1958 "Big Crown" Ref. 7924. While bronze models have been available in the Black Bay collection before, this is the first time that a model with a bronze bracelet has been released across the entire collection. The classic style, including the rivet bracelet used in the 1950s and the small diameter case, complements the brown dial and bezel, creating a striking bronze look. While some people may be concerned about tarnishing or patina when it comes to bronze, Tudor's bronze is an alloy of copper and aluminum, making it relatively resistant to aging.

Pelagos FXD

　This is a commercial version of a tool watch developed in collaboration with the French Navy's combat diver unit, the "Commando Hubert." While the existing Pelagos was designed for deep diving, featuring features such as 500m water resistance and a helium escape valve, this model was designed for underwater navigation, where the watch moves in a straight line at a depth of just a few meters. To achieve this, the water resistance was deliberately limited to 200m and the case thickness was kept to 12.75mm. The rotating bezel also rotates bidirectionally for ease of use, and is larger than the case itself, making it easier to grip even while wearing gloves. Other improvements focused on overall usability include the use of X1-grade Super-LumiNova, which has a 60% higher afterglow brightness after two hours than standard.

Black Bay Chrono

　Celebrating the 50th anniversary of its chronograph production in 2020, Tudor has given the Black Bay Chrono a new dial. These "panda" and "reverse panda" dials, featuring a beautiful contrast between opaline and black or black and silver, are popular designs across brands and models. Classical design elements, such as the domed dial and stainless steel bezel with a black anodized aluminum insert, are reminiscent of classic sports chronographs, evocative of the company's history. Three straps are available: a fabric strap familiar from the Heritage Collection, a black aged leather strap with a motorsport-inspired base, and a stainless steel bracelet with rivets. The movement is the Caliber MT5813, based on Breitling's Caliber 01, a prestigious chronograph manufacturer. This automatic chronograph movement uses a column wheel and vertical clutch, and boasts high precision, earning it the Swiss official chronometer certification from COSC. It also features a silicon balance spring for magnetic resistance and a practical power reserve of approximately 70 hours.

Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K

　The popular Black Bay Fifty-Eight, with its compact 39mm case diameter, now features an 18K yellow gold case. The case is satin-finished, giving it a matte finish that reduces glare compared to standard yellow gold models. The dial and bezel feature a subdued green color, and the yellow gold hands and indexes embody understated elegance. This model is the first Black Bay to feature a see-through caseback, allowing the Caliber MT5400 movement to be seen from the back. Straps include a dark brown alligator strap and the familiar fabric strap from the Heritage Collection. This strap is crafted on a 19th-century loom by Julien Faure, a French company that has been family-run for over 150 years.

Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925

The Black Bay Fifty-Eight, named after the year of release of Tudor's classic "Big Crown" Ref. 7924, now features a new variation with a 925 silver case. Paired with a taupe-colored dial and bezel, it creates an elegant impression. When it comes to 925 silver, tarnishing due to oxidation is a common concern. Many have experienced their once-dazzling silver jewelry suddenly darken. This model utilizes "incandescent silver," a unique blend ratio, to ensure its beauty is preserved over time. The see-through case back allows for viewing of the distinctive sandblasted finish of the Caliber MT5400. The strap is available in taupe-colored fabric or brown grained leather.

Black Bay 32/36/41

　The Black Bay has gained popularity thanks to its wide variety of variations. Among these, the 32mm, 36mm, and 41mm models are available with smooth bezels. Previously, these models were available with sporty dials in colors like black and blue, but this year a silver dial has been added. The combination of a clean case without a rotating bezel and a chic silver dial will be ideal for business settings. In addition to a sturdy bracelet, fabric and leather straps are also available, allowing you to choose the strap that best suits your needs. While seemingly simple, this model boasts unique charm with its snowflake hands, symmetrical dial, and crown cap engraved with the brand's signature rose.
