Seiko Prospex has introduced a new collection, the "SPEEDTIMER." This new model is an automatic chronograph, part of the collection. Two designs are available. The white dial model is limited to 1000 pieces worldwide. It pays homage to the company's high-precision stopwatch used at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. The chronograph seconds hand, equipped with a long counterweight, reaches all the way to the tachymeter on the outer edge of the dial, and the large pushers are designed for ease of use. The regular model with a black dial is inspired by the Crown Chronograph, Japan's first chronograph, also released in 1964, and its sharp hands and wide, grooved indices are reminiscent of the original. The white dial model comes with a stainless steel bracelet as well as a calfskin strap.

Automatic (Cal. 8R46). 34 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 45 hours. Stainless steel (diameter 42.5 mm, thickness 15.1 mm). Water resistant to 10 bar. 330,000 yen (tax included).
Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph

Four new solar chronograph models have been added to the Seiko Prospex "SPEEDTIMER." The design is based on the "5 Sports Speedtimer," the world's first vertical clutch automatic chronograph with day-date, released in May 1969. The sharp 39mm case is enhanced by a black bezel, creating a sporty design. Meanwhile, classic touches like cream-colored Super-LumiNova, curved sapphire crystal, and a textured sand-grain dial will appeal to fans of the classics. While mechanical chronographs can be expensive to maintain, this model's solar quartz movement significantly reduces running costs, a major attraction.
Prospex 1965 Mechanical Diver's Modern Design SBDC141

Automatic (Cal. 6R35). 24 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel (diameter 40.5 mm, thickness 13.2 mm). Water resistant to 200 m. Price: 148,500 yen (tax included).
Along with the simultaneously announced SBDC143, this model is the first Seiko diver's watch to feature a fabric strap. Its design is based on the 62MAS-010, the first Japanese-made diver's watch, released in 1965. Characterized by a clean design without a crown guard, this monumental model laid the foundation for Seiko's subsequent development of specialty watches. This latest model continues that design code, featuring thick, highly visible hands and indices. The Cal. 6R35 movement is based on the aged Cal. 6R15, boasting a highly reliable movement with an extended power reserve of approximately 70 hours. The fabric strap is woven using traditional Japanese techniques and comes with two different colored straps.
Prospex 1970 Mechanical Diver's Modern Design SBDC143

Automatic (Cal. 6R35). 24 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel (diameter 42.7 mm, thickness 13.2 mm). Water resistant to 200 m. Price: 148,500 yen (tax included).
Along with the simultaneously announced SBDC141, this is the first Seiko diver's model to feature a fabric strap. This strap is crafted using the traditional Japanese technique of "seichu," also used to tie obi sashes for kimonos. This results in a special strap that is not only durable and comfortable, but also aesthetically pleasing. The design of this model is based on the so-called "Second Diver," released in 1970 and carried by adventurer Naomi Uemura on his dogsled journey through the Arctic. The rounded case, which also serves as a crown guard, remains a popular favorite today. The movement is the Cal. 6R35, which has a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Two fabric straps are included.

The Crown Chronograph is a hand-wound, one-push chronograph with a rotating bezel and a push-piece at the 2 o'clock position, but this model has been remade as a simple three-hand model. With indices and hands that follow the original design, dials with different finishes, and box-shaped Hardlex crystal that gives it a classic look, this model will be familiar to those familiar with the Crown Chronograph, while offering a fresh perspective for those unfamiliar with it. Models with a date display and models with a 24-hour display and an open heart are available, each with three variations.
