Panerai Luminor Marina PlatinumTech™ - 44mm
Panerai rarely uses platinum cases, but the company's innovative, high-tech research and development center, the Idea Laboratory, has put a modern twist on the material, creating a new one: PlatinumTech™.
Like Panerai's exclusive Goldtech™ material, Platinumtech™ is, as the name suggests, a platinum-based alloy that enhances the material's hardness and resistance, despite the increased difficulty of the finishing and polishing processes. This has resulted in the cushion-shaped cases characteristic of the Luminor Marina collection being subjected to a highly intricate hand-finishing process, due to the delicate finish.

The 44mm case is made of PlatinumTech™, from the bezel to the case body, 12-sided screw-down caseback, and patented crown protector. Beneath the domed sapphire crystal is an olive green sandwich dial with a sunray finish.
The Arabic numerals, bar indices, and blue-accented hands are filled with vintage-inspired Super-LumiNova, which glows cream-colored in the daylight but glows green in the dark. The symmetrical placement of the date display at 3 o'clock and the small seconds at 9 o'clock completes the overall balanced layout.

Cal. P. 9010 with a 70-year warranty
The satin-brushed case back is made transparent by a sapphire crystal, allowing the viewer to see the Panerai in-house movement, the Caliber P.9010. The automatic winding mechanism uses bidirectional winding, which stores a maximum power reserve of approximately 72 hours in the twin barrels.
The movement, made up of 200 parts including 31 jewels, is 6mm thick and highly reliable. It also features practical features such as a stop-seconds hand to help with accurate time setting and an independent hour hand adjustment system that allows for quick and easy time zone and date adjustment.

The 70-year guarantee medal on the transparent caseback slightly interferes with viewing the movement. The number 70 is, of course, a sign of Panerai's high confidence in the quality of its products, but it also comes from the fact that 2020 marks the 70th anniversary of the first Luminor model.
The watch is presented on a brown alligator strap with contrasting stitching and a trapezoidal buckle, also made of platinum tech. A second strap option is available at the time of purchase, along with a screwdriver for changing the strap and buckle. Only 70 pieces will be sold, in keeping with the 70th anniversary.
