Fifty Fathoms

Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms. Its black dial, large luminous indices, and large case are linked to the design and functionality of modern diver's watches. It was commissioned by Captain Robert "Bob" Maloubier, who was looking for a diving watch for the French Navy's commandos.

Produced by Blancpain and written and directed by Jeffrey Kingston, "The Fifty Fathoms and the Pioneers Who Created It" offers an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the Fifty Fathoms, the ancestor of the modern diver's watch. Every Fifty Fathoms builds on the achievements of its legendary predecessors and features the key characteristics that define it as the quintessential diver's watch. Its professionalism is also evident in the choices it makes, based on years of experience with diving, its risks, and its essential needs.
