The "Curve" watch, released by Bulova in 2016, attracted attention for its groundbreaking, extremely curved case and movement that curved to match the shape of the case. Five years later, Bulova reimagined the round case and released two completely new, ergonomically designed tonneau-shaped models. While this model was released overseas first, we hope to see it launched in Japan as well.

The "Curve" tonneau-shaped model features a curved movement
According to Bulova, the new "Curve" shape is inspired by the edgy square and rectangular cases popular in smartwatches and fitness equipment. Both versions feature a stainless steel case and an impressive design measuring 50mm x 41mm.

One is a shining yellow gold watch with a matching bracelet and gold dial. The other features a rose gold and black case with a brown dial and a black alligator leather strap. Like previous models, the case is curved to fit snugly around the wrist. The partially see-through dial features an outer minute track, a third horizontal subdial, and luminous hour and minute hands.

The most distinctive feature of the Bulova Curve is that not only is the case curved, but so is the movement. This is because Bulova's ultra-high-frequency precision caliber has been curved to match the shape of the case. The five-hand chronograph movement has a frequency of 262 kHz, eight times that of a typical quartz movement. As a result, the second hand does not move once per second like a standard quartz watch, but instead glides continuously across the dial like a mechanical watch.

Also, unusually for a quartz watch, the case back is transparent, allowing the concave surface of the precision movement to be viewed along the same seamless shape as the case. The suggested retail price is between US$1150 and US$1295.
