Camper "TWINS" / Connoisseur's Choice, featuring different designs on the left and right

2021.10.20

Camper's "TWINS" is a collection that we look forward to seeing new releases every season. In addition to the intriguing design created by the asymmetrical design, we would like to draw your attention to its excellent comfort. Let us introduce a pair of shoes with a British design with a twist.

Camper TWINS (NEUMAN)

Camper TWINS (NEUMAN) K100750-001
This TWINS model is inspired by British derby shoes. The key feature is that the outer wing (eyelet) of one shoe is shifted outward. This "shifting design" was created in 1998 and has been passed down to the present day. Leather upper, rubber sole. The insole is not removable. Price: 28,600 yen (tax included).

A unique pair of shoes based on British style

Camper, which we will introduce today, was founded in 1975 on the Spanish island of Mallorca. The company is still headquartered in the island's town of Inca, where it handles everything from design to manufacturing and sales. When you hear the name Mallorca, you immediately think of Joan Miró. The painter had his studio here from 1956 until his death in 83, and continued to create. He actively painted peaceful motifs such as women, stars, birds, and flowers, and even produced sculptures and ceramic works. It may be a stretch, but the colorful use of colors and humorous designs seem somewhat similar to Camper shoes. Perhaps it's the laid-back environment surrounded by nature that influenced them.

Now, the model we would like to recommend is Camper's new Fall/Winter 2021 model, the "NEUMAN." This model inherits the "TWINS" design that has been around since 1988, with each shoe having its own unique character. However, when the two shoes are placed side by side, they form a perfect pair, an innovative design. While the "NEUMAN" is based on the classic British-style derby shoe (a shoe with an open wing), it has a twisted design with the open wing on only one shoe shifted outward, making it understated yet unique. This is said to be one of the most popular designs in the "TWINS" series.

The outsole is made of rubber for excellent grip, and the upper is made of leather, making it a lightweight and attractively priced pair. The ivory-colored stitching and shoelaces further emphasize the uniqueness of the "TWINS," creating a playful and casual shoe. I myself love Camper shoes, and their great balance of comfort and design makes me want to wear them every day. They go better with casual jacket styles and denim than suits, so you'll naturally find yourself wearing them more often. I would recommend the inexpensive, classic canvas sneakers to younger generations, but I'd also like older people to try out these unique Camper shoes.
