Comments in commemoration of the 100th issue

Masayuki Hirota

Kronos Japan, which began modestly in October 2005, has reached its 100th issue with this publication. First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported us.

As the COVID-2 pandemic spread in 2020, we asked ourselves what we could do. This was especially true as a dictator invaded Ukraine and people suffered the ravages of war. Our beloved hobby of watches was founded on the premise of world peace, but that was tragically shattered in just two years. Is there any point in praising watches when people are suffering from disease and bombing?

This should be a serious question for all people living in this world.

But we are convinced. Since our founding, we have had the opportunity to share fun and joy with all kinds of people, transcending nationality, gender, occupation, and age. Watches have been the thing that connected us all. In these difficult times, it may seem hypocritical to talk of solidarity. However, we strongly believe that all hobbies, including watches, bring joy and connection to people, transcending all constraints. This may bring a small amount of "peace." However, it may be absurd to think that the peace of each individual may eventually bring peace to those around them, but it is certainly not meaningless.

It's impossible to predict what will happen to Kronos Japan, or to society, between now and the 100th issue. However, hobbies, joy, and connections with people will surely become even more valuable. And there would be no greater joy than if we could continue to be by your side in helping to make that happen. Once again, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your support.
