Hublot's innovative style

Hublot is a brand that has always maintained an innovative style in the Swiss luxury watch industry. Let's start by looking at the history of Hublot from its birth to the present day.

Hublot History and Background

Hublot was founded in Nyon, Switzerland in 1980. The brand name "HUBLOT" means "porthole" in French, and the bezels of their watches are also designed to resemble portholes.

In the same year, they released a model that combined a gold watch with a rubber strap. However, at the time, metal bracelets and leather straps were the norm, and although this unconventional watch surprised the industry, for a long time it was seen as an industry outlier.

Hublot was innovative but had not been doing well in sales, but it was Jean-Claude Biver (now retired) who was appointed CEO in 2004 and saved the company. He was known as a successor to the watch business, having led many brands to success.

The development and success of the Big Bang

Jean-Claude Biver

Jean-Claude Biver, known for leading numerous brands to success and as a watch business success story, became CEO of Hublot in 2004 and president of the LVMH Group's Watch Division in 14. He became chairman of the division in 18 and has since served in an advisory role. Ricardo Quadalupe is currently CEO of Hublot.

The Big Bang, released by Hublot in 2005, is a watch developed based on the concept of fusion. Not only does it feature Hublot's iconic rubber strap, but it also actively uses new and unique materials for the case.

The Big Bang gained popularity, especially among young people. This led to a significant increase in Hublot's profits and a remarkable comeback. The Big Bang remains the brand's flagship collection.

Following the huge success of the Big Bang, Hublot also began developing its own movements. The brand's first fully in-house chronograph movement, the Unico, was highly praised, and Hublot became recognized as a superior manufacture brand.

Why Hublot is popular among watch enthusiasts

Let's take a look at why Hublot is so popular with so many watch enthusiasts. Its major features are its reliable manufacture movements and innovative and original designs.

High reliability and excellent specifications

Unico (Cal.HUB1242)

Following the huge success of the Big Bang, the company developed and manufactured its own chronograph movement, the Unico (Cal. HUB1242), after a development period of around four years. It maintained excellent performance and became the catalyst for the company to gain recognition as a manufacture brand.

One of the reasons why Hublot watches are so popular is the high reliability of their in-house movement, the Unico. This movement uses a column wheel and offers excellent operability.

Another appealing feature is its high-performance specs, including a power reserve of approximately three days and a vibration frequency of 28,800 vph. The skeleton model also allows you to enjoy the carefully crafted design of the movement.

In 2018, they released the Unico II, which was developed for small-sized models. Their serious attitude as a manufacturer has resulted in reliability that impresses even connoisseurs.

A status that overwhelms other companies

Big Bang Unico Berluti Arminio

Among their many partnerships, one of the most notable is their collaboration with Berluti, which began in 2016. In 2021, they released the Big Bang Unico Berluti Aluminum, featuring Burnished Aluminum Venezia Leather for the dial, bezel, and strap. Automatic movement (Cal. HUB1280). 43 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve of approximately 72 hours. Titanium case (44mm diameter). Water resistant to 10 bar. Limited to 100 pieces worldwide. Priced at 2,937,000 yen (tax included). Sold out.

Hublot's continued success is also due to its widespread brand image, which has enabled it to develop an excellent marketing strategy and achieve a high status that surpasses that of its competitors.

After making the Big Bang a huge hit, Biver used his media strategy to spread Hublot's name recognition around the world, establishing Hublot's position as the "watch of successful people."

Today, the brand continues to develop a clever partnership strategy in a wide range of fields, including sports, fashion, art, and music. Despite being an emerging brand, it has established itself as a status brand that can elevate style.

Innovative and original design

Hublot's proactive approach to incorporating different and unique materials is a major defining feature of the brand. The company has consistently pursued original designs that defy industry conventions since its founding.

The screwed bezel and the flared case sides are instantly recognizable as Hublot watches, and are reflected in many models as details that symbolize the brand.

The innovative fusion of gold and rubber is also an essential element when talking about Hublot. Hublot continues to create one-of-a-kind watches, incorporating materials unique to the brand.
