Garmin's flagship multisport GPS watch collection has announced a new series, the Fenix 7, for 2022. It comes in three sizes to cater to a wide range of users.
2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the release of the first Phoenix model. The design has been revised to distinguish it from previous models. Titanium is used for the case, and protective elements such as metal button guards and lug shields have been added. Some models, called "Sapphire Dual Power," feature highly transparent, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, giving them the appearance of a luxury watch. Operability and visibility have also been greatly improved. In addition to traditional button operation, touchscreen operation is now possible, and the touchscreen can also be turned on and off. The katakana characters displayed on the screen have been updated from half-width to full-width.
The Sapphire Dual Power model also boasts improved solar charging capabilities, with a larger solar cell area and more efficient conductive materials, resulting in approximately double the operating time compared to the 6 Series.

The Fenix 7 also comes with a comprehensive selection of over 30 sports-related apps, allowing you to optimize your sports training across a wide range of activities, from rock climbing to swimming and strength training.
The new features added this time are as follows:
・"Stamina Monitoring"
This innovative feature from Garmin lets you know in real time how much energy you're burning during exercise, helping runners and cyclists adjust the intensity and pace of their training.
・"Estimated time"
Based on your running activity history and overall fitness level, it estimates your total time and pace for the distance you run and displays it in a graph.
・"Recovery Time"
It predicts how many hours of rest you'll need to recover, taking into account the intensity and stress of your training, as well as other factors like daily activity and sleep.
・"Recommended Workouts"
It will suggest running or cycling training based on your current training load, overall physical condition, etc.
The Fenix 7X also comes with a built-in LED flashlight, which has a variety of functions, including adjustable light intensity, red light, and SOS signal pattern flashing, improving operability and safety for the wearer.

The Fenix 7 Series, which is fully equipped with Garmin's navigation functions, uses new GNSS multi-band technology to receive two frequency bands, L1 and L5 signals, achieving the highest accuracy even in environments where GPS measurements are difficult.
The built-in topographical maps have also been improved. Detailed topographical maps of Japan, over 2200 ski maps from around the world, and over 42,000 golf courses are included by default. Overseas continental maps (TopoActive) can also be downloaded for free. In addition, detailed road maps of Japan and topographical maps for mountain climbing in Japan can also be downloaded for a fee.
Another useful feature is the "Course Point Display" function, which allows you to check the information you want to know at a glance. This function shows the distance to pre-registered course points such as food, water, and emergency locations. This function allows you to aim for victory with peace of mind.

Designed for everyday use, the Fenix 7 (like most connected watches today) is designed to contribute to your health and well-being by analyzing and scoring blood oxygen levels, wrist-based heart rate, breathing, stress levels, physical fitness, fitness age, and sleep.
For sleep, it takes into account your activity level, stress level, and bedtime to identify different stages of sleep and score your sleep quality on a scale of 0 to 100.
When synced with your smartphone, the safety features auto-detect external trouble and manually activate assistance calls to locate you and contact you in case of an emergency. They can also be switched off if needed, allowing you to focus on your training.
Wearers can also access contactless payment systems such as Suica and Garmin Pay, as well as stream music from Spotify®, Amazon Music, LINE Music and other services, and can store and enjoy up to 2000 songs.
