Oris New Releases for 2022

ProPilot X Caliber 400

　Oris has announced the ProPilot X Calibre 400, equipped with Oris' in-house manufactured movement, Cal. 400. Cal. 400 is being used for the first time in the Aquis collection, and is a highly practical movement with a power reserve of approximately 120 hours, high magnetic resistance, a 10-year warranty (subject to MyOris registration), and a recommended overhaul interval of 10 years.

　The design of this model inherits the design code of the ProPilot X, featuring a case and bracelet with striking straight edges, a distinctive bezel, and Alpha-shaped hour and minute hands. The clean design with bar indexes is also a distinctive feature that sets it apart from previous ProPilot models. The case is made of sandblasted matte titanium, and its 39mm diameter makes it comfortable to wear. Three dial colors are available: blue, gray, and salmon.

Big Crown Pointer Date Bronze

　Oris has added the Big Crown Pointer Date Bronze, its first full bronze model. Bronze, which changes dramatically over time, has been increasingly used as a watch material in recent years, and Oris has also used it. This model is unique in that the case, bezel, crown, bracelet, and clasp are all made from solid bronze. Bronze is softer and more easily deformed than steel, so the development of this material took time.

　The dial is available in four colors: green, brown, burgundy, and blue, all of which feature desaturated tones that complement the bronze hue and patina that develops over time.

Big Crown x Cervo Volante

　Oris' iconic Big Crown has been joined by the addition of the Big Crown x Cervo Volante, a watch with a strap made from sustainable deerskin. Currently, approximately 15,000 wild deer are culled in Switzerland each year. This is done to prevent the deer from eating plants and maintain a balance in the natural environment. For many years, culled deer were disposed of as waste, but Cervo Volante is an initiative that has begun to utilize the leather as a resource.

　This model features a strap made of deerskin tanned and manufactured by Cervo Volante. This deerskin is tanned at one of only two factories in Switzerland that exclusively uses full vegetable tanning. Furthermore, damaged areas of the leather, which are usually considered defective, are preserved as proof that the deer lived, reducing waste.

　The three models available are 38mm in diameter and come with a grey, blue, or green dial. Each model also comes with a travel pouch and card case, both made from deerskin.
