Is Dolce & Gabbana making luxury watches? Not just fashion watches, but a genuine mechanical watch has arrived

During Watches & Wonders, various manufacturers were holding trade shows around the area. Among them, Dolce & Gabbana stood out the most. Their launch was unexpected, in a good way. If they continue on this path, they will surely become a new leader among non-specialized manufacturers.

Authentic luxury watches with exteriors crafted in-house

　It was in February that I received an invitation to the Dolce & Gabbana watch launch. I had forgotten about it for a while, but I figured there must be some reason they had bothered to send it to me, so I squeezed in a break from Watches & Wonders and popped over to the Hotel President Wilson in Geneva. The Dolce & Gabbana event was on the seventh floor of the hotel.

　The first collection we were shown was the affordable price range collection. After a quick look, we were shown another collection that surprised us. Each model, labeled "Manifattura Italiana," was a genuine luxury watch with a luxurious gold case and a unique micro-rotor. Each collection was named after an Italian city.

　The company began manufacturing watches in 2012, but began producing unique pieces in 17, and began using exclusive movements at the 19 Manifattura Italiana. The micro-rotors used in these watches are made by Timeless Manufacture, formerly known as MHC (Manufacture Haute Complications), a complicated watch manufacturer led by Pierre Fabre and Dominique Renaud (!). The company went bankrupt in 18, but has since made a comeback and currently supplies repeater movements to H. Moser & Cie. and others.

　According to a Dolce & Gabbana representative, the exterior of Manifattura Italiana is made in their own workshop in Italy. The unique handcrafted carvings are a major attraction of this collection. It has only been less than three years since the brand first launched. In the future, Dolce & Gabbana may become the center of attention among non-specialized manufacturers.
