We present our impressions of the ceramic version of the Seamaster Diver 300M Master Chronometer, one of the company's most popular watches, paired with a NATO strap. The Seamaster Diver 300M is, needless to say, an extremely popular collection, and the standard stainless steel model is close to guaranteed success, but how does the ceramic model perform?

The reason for the popularity of the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M
Before we begin our impressions, let's summarize why the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Master Chronometer is so popular. Omega's public image is that of a brand with a long history, high technical capabilities, including the Moonwatch Speedmaster in its collection, and the brand that serves as the timekeeper for the Olympic Games.
Another advantage is that the watch is widely available in stores, meaning it is often seen and easily serviced. The Seamaster Diver 300M is a popular diver's watch, thanks to its high performance for professionals and its distinctive, instantly recognizable design. The current design code was established in 1993, and its longevity, nearly 30 years of use, is a barometer of its popularity. It's also worth noting that it's highly recognized as a watch issued to intelligence agency operatives.
Even from the perspective of a connoisseur, the exterior is highly refined, and the Cal. 8806 and its derivative movements have many plus points, such as high magnetic resistance of 15,000 gauss and the adoption of the co-axial escapement that is now synonymous with Omega. Furthermore, the appearance of the movement visible through the case back is large and impressive, providing a high level of satisfaction.
Considering all of this, the current popularity of the Seamaster Diver 300M is inevitable.
High popularity comes from high ability
No matter how good Omega's promotion is, if they don't have the skills to back it up, they wouldn't be as popular as they are now. Wearing this model, I could really see that they have the skills.
Although it is a large model with a case diameter of 43.5mm, the case shape with short lugs means that it does not protrude and fits comfortably on my wrist, which is 17.5cm in circumference. The somewhat organically rounded design feels gentle against the skin, and from the first time I put it on, it felt like I had been wearing it for years. This friendliness also applies to the bezel, which has little play, a clear click, and just the right weight. The distinctive 12-sided bezel is gentle on the fingers and easy to grip. The bezel also has a slight slope on the edge, so it does not protrude much in height and prevents it from catching on clothing.
The iconic wave-patterned dial of the Seamaster Diver 300M has been given a slightly grayish matte base with a thin, glossy black pattern engraved on it. This dial has extremely high visibility. I had already praised the high visibility of the Seamaster Diver before my impressions, but after wearing it for a while, I was even more surprised.
The flat dial, with a subtle pattern visible in a dimly lit environment like my own home, offers a high contrast between the indices and hands. In direct sunlight, the thin wave pattern reflects light and stands out, but other areas of the dial are well-controlled, allowing the luminous parts of the indices and hands to stand out clearly and without compromising the contrast at all. The PVD-finished titanium skeleton hour and minute hands not only clearly indicate the time, but also have a subtle rainbow-like effect thanks to the streaks of the finish. The skill and dexterity of this processing demonstrates Omega's current strength and contributes to its high reputation.
