G-SHOCK Two Full Metal Masterpieces: the GMW-B5000 and GM-B2100

The Full Metal G-SHOCK offers unprecedented shock resistance, even with a metal case and bracelet. Since its introduction in 2018, the series has established itself as a genre, and currently boasts two masterpieces. One is the GMW-B5000, which retains the character of its predecessor. The other is the GM-B2100, an analog-digital combination watch.

FULLMETAL G-SHOCK

　Currently, there are two models in the G-SHOCK Full Metal Series that are essential to any discussion. One is the GMWB5000, which caused a big stir in 2018 by giving the "origin" DW-5000C a full metal exterior. Coming in this milestone year marking the brand's 35th anniversary, the GMW-B5000 shattered the stereotype that G-SHOCK = resin case and gave the icon a new character, making it truly worthy of being called a G-SHOCK masterpiece.

　The other is the GM-B2100, a new-generation masterpiece following the GMW-B5000. Based on the GA-2100, a smash hit released in 19 that reinterpreted the Origin octagonal bezel in a modern style, this model, released in 22, features an analog time display, which differs from the Origin digital watch. Therefore, although the case structure is the same, the two models have completely different characters.

　The GM-B2100, the "next generation" of Masterpiece, features a dial that can be said to be the culmination of the plastic molding technology that Yamagata Casio has cultivated. Take the indices, for example. At first glance, they appear to be applied, but they are molded as a single piece with the dial cover ring and are fixed in place, floating above the dial. The layered structure, in which the indices are placed one layer above the main dial, gives the dial a three-dimensional feel and ensures high visibility. This kind of ingenuity is truly unique to analog watches.

　Additionally, the polycarbonate and plastic dial allows for the thinnest case of any full-metal G-SHOCK. As mentioned above, the case structure remains the same, but the wearing comfort is unmatched by any other full-metal watch.

　The "standard" model, the GMW-B5000, uses a higher quality LCD than models in the basic series such as the DW-5600, improving visibility. The high-contrast character display is clearly readable even under strong light sources, and the backlight that illuminates the entire LCD screen maintains high readability even in dark places. Its practicality, regardless of the situation, is a character worthy of a direct descendant of the Origin series.

　The GMW-B5000 is a legitimate evolution of the Origin, while the GM-B2100 is a watch that embodies the essence of an analog watch, leveraging Casio's technological capabilities. While they may have different characteristics, both are the perfection of G-SHOCK.
