The Yaman & Stübi score counter can be operated using only the crown and pushers at the 9 o'clock position. The reason other companies cannot imitate it is that not only the mechanism but also the bezel for comparing handicaps has been patented (European Patent 1806682).

　The idea of incorporating a golf score counter into a wristwatch has been around for a long time. Even Gérald Genta added this mechanism to his watch. However, watches with score counters were merely gadgets for hobbyists. That was before the founding of Yaman & Stübi.

　Urs Jahmann, the founder of the company, felt that converting yards to meters and counting strokes while playing golf was a distraction. He happened to meet watchmaker Pascal Stübi, and together they decided to create a watch specifically for golf that could be used on the golf course. With the help of a supplier, the two completed an unprecedented mechanical golf watch in 2007. This watch was small enough to fit on the wrist, but could also count strokes per hole, total strokes, and the number of holes played.

　Additionally, Yaman & Stübi's golf watches were revolutionary in two ways: they were easy to read, simple to operate, and highly shock-resistant. During a swing, gravitational acceleration of 20 to 40 g occurs every millisecond, making mechanical watches unsuitable for golf. Yaman & Stübi, on the other hand, not only added shock-absorbing rubber to the movement's inner frame, but also strengthened the golf counter to improve shock resistance. This is a design that could only be dreamed of by the founder, who was a golf enthusiast.

　Nowadays, many other companies have followed suit in the golf watch market, but when it comes to legibility, ease of use, and reliability, Yaman & Stübi watches still stand out. It's no wonder they are the favorites of so many pros.

As expected from a golf enthusiast, the Yaman & Stübi score counter offers excellent operability and visibility. Pressing the stroke pusher ❹ adds the number of strokes to the stroke display ❷. Pressing the next hole pusher ❼ moves on to the next hole and ❷ is reset to zero, but the total score continues to add. When you finish playing, pressing the reset button ❺ resets all displays. Another thoughtful touch for golfers is the rotating bezel, which displays a conversion table of meters and yards and the handicap number. For increased shock resistance, the score counter is equipped with a ceramic ball bearing. Although it has been more than 15 years since its debut, it remains a classic example of a mechanical watch with a score counter.
