With Watches & Wonders Geneva now over, 2023 has seen a plethora of fascinating new releases from various manufacturers. Serge Maillard, publisher and editor-in-chief of the Swiss watch magazine Europa Star, has selected five particularly attractive watches from this year's new releases. The collection includes masterpieces with dynamic designs, such as Oris's "Kermit," Rolex's "Day-Date" with its "LOVE" motif, and HYT's tourbillon.

1st Place: Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition
Oris' ProPilot X Kermit Edition shows how a "fun" twist can be put on a "serious" watch. The concept of "Kermit Day" at the beginning of each month (each day of the calendar disc is Kermit's face) highlights the fact that watchmaking today is about delivering emotion, not just telling time.

Automatic movement (Cal. Oris 400). 21 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 120 hours. Ti case (diameter 39mm). Water resistant to 10 bar. 660,000 yen (tax included).
2. Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36
Like the Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition above, this version of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 offers a surprising twist on an iconic and historic watch. But we were even more surprised to see Rolex go down this path!

Automatic winding (Cal. 3255). 31 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. 18K yellow gold case (diameter 36 mm, thickness 12 mm). Water resistant to 100 m.
3rd place: Capek "Antarctic Revelation"
This independent watch manufacturer is only accepting orders from 2025. The Antarctica collection is a perfect blend of luxury watchmaking and sporty chic, so it's no surprise that there are long waiting lists.

Automatic winding (Cal. SXH7). 25 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 60 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 40.5 mm, thickness 10.6 mm). Water resistant to 120 m.
4th place: Karl Süsske & Söhne "Velvedere"
This model, which combines sporty chic with luxury watches, is sure to attract a new type of customer for the Austrian brand. Don't forget the twist: the date window moves every day!

Automatic winding (Cal. CSS201). 21 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 42 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 40.8 mm, thickness 12.2 mm). Water resistant to 10 bar.
5th place: HYT "Tourbillon Conical"
The Kudoke 3 is a creation of an independent watchmaker, yet it's very affordable. It's a more eccentric watch than Kudoke's previous offerings, featuring a simple yet interesting time display that relies on a three-arm hour hand.
The finish and quality of this watch are unmistakably Kudoke watches, but its character is so different from their previous works that even those who own existing models will find it of great interest.

Manual winding (Cal. 701-TC). 61 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 40 hours. Carbon x Ti + DLC case (diameter 48.00 mm, thickness 25.15 mm). Water resistant to 50 m.
