The 47mm case of the Panerai Submersible S BRABUS e-Titanio™ (PAM01403) is crafted using e-Titanio™, a titanium powder made from 100% recycled pre-consumer titanium alloy scrap, and DMLS technology (Direct Metal Laser Sintering, or 3D printing of metal plates). Very few watchmakers utilize this technology, and Panerai has continued to hone its DMLS technology at the world's highest level since introducing it to the present day.
Submersible S BRABUS e-Titanio™
The precise 3D printing process gives the case a lighter structure and a uniform appearance. Rather than carving out a block of metal as in traditional case manufacturing, titanium powder is fused together using high-power fiber optic laser sintering and built up layer by layer, creating an extremely thin, hollow structure. Most notably, this technology allows the hollow titanium walls to be 30 microns (0.03 mm) thick without compromising strength or water resistance. The entire watch weighs just 115g, with the case alone weighing 23.6g, making the DMLS case approximately 30% lighter than conventional titanium cases.
P.4001/S calibre
The Submersible S is equipped with the P.4001/S caliber, a refined skeleton movement that is one of Laboratorio di Idee's (Idea Workshop) high-end complications. The off-center micro-rotor ensures winding, ensuring a power reserve of up to three days. The GMT function, with its red and white hands and AM/PM indicator, emphasizes the watch's functionality. In addition to the patent for the DMLS titanium process, the watch also boasts numerous other existing patented features, including a lever-lock crown protector, a unidirectional rotating bezel, a polarized date display, and a zero reset.
The small seconds at 9 o'clock has a seconds reset function for optimal time setting. The date display is a Panerai original, and uses polarization technology to display the numbers only when light passes through the aperture, without obscuring the movement. This skeleton structure makes the watch significantly lighter, ensuring both functionality and durability. Stylish red details embody an aesthetic inspired by the BRABUS design DNA.
The watch is presented with two different straps: a black bi-material strap made of calfskin and rubber, and a fabric strap made from 68% recycled PET from post-consumer waste. The Panerai Submersible S BRABUS e-Titanio™ (PAM01403) is limited to 177 pieces, a nod to the year BRABUS was founded in 1977, and will be available exclusively at Panerai boutiques worldwide.
