Tudor becomes Official Timekeeper of Rugby World Cup 2023

Tudor has announced that it will be the Official Timekeeper of Rugby World Cup 2023, which will be held in France from 8 September to 28 October 2023.
The brand has had a partnership with World Rugby since 2017 and supported the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 in Cape Town last year.

Both respect tradition and push the boundaries

　Rugby is the ultimate team sport, requiring speed, power, boldness and a spirit of unity from each of the 30 players. Each player has upheld the traditions of rugby by always showing respect for opponents and referees, both on and off the pitch.

　Tudor believes that this noble and resilient spirit is in line with the watchmaking philosophy that the company has upheld since its founding, and so it entered into a partnership with World Rugby in 2017. The company has supported both the men's and women's Rugby World Cups, the Rugby World Cup Sevens, as well as the U20 World Cup.

　The foundation of this support is Tudor's brand concept, #BornToDare. The Rugby World Cup, where all of one's abilities are tested under harsh conditions, is a bold fusion of the past and the present, and can be felt to be in line with Tudor's watchmaking, which is based on a single goal.

　Rugby is said to have been born when William Webb Ellis, a student at Rugby School in England, ignored the rules and ran with a football. The 2023 Rugby World Cup, for which Tudor will serve as timekeeper, will be held in the commemorative year celebrating the 200th anniversary of the sport.

　The iconic Stade de France stadium in Paris will be the stage for the premier events, including the opening match and the final, and there will be long waits to see which two teams will line up in the final 51 days from now.

Tudor's Professional Model for Challengers

　Tudor has developed a number of collections aimed at challengers, including the Black Bay collection, and the Professional model is especially suited to those who face harsh environments with an indomitable spirit, such as rugby players.

The Black Bay Chrono is a collection that combines the traditional diver style with a chronograph function, making it functional for both land and water. While retaining the Black Bay signature features such as snowflake hands and 200m water resistance, the addition of two counters and a tachymeter emphasizes its sporty impression.

　The Black Bay Pro, which was released in 2022 and features a GMT function, is also a representative example of Tudor's professional models.

　The fixed 24-hour bezel and relatively compact 39mm diameter give it a bold look. While retaining many of the Black Bay's elements, it also features luminous hour markers and a redesigned crown, making it a model worthy of the "Pro" name.
