Singapore is currently the market with the largest concentration of independent brands. The Singapore Watch Fair will be held there from October 18th to 21st, 2023. 21 organizations and manufacturers (planned) will participate, led by the Association of Independent Watchmakers (AHCI). Brands such as Sartori Villar and Ophion, which is popular among watch enthusiasts, will be exhibiting.

Singapore Watch Fair is here! Independent brands gather together

The Singapore Watch Fair, held in 2017, was Asia's first watch trade fair specifically for enthusiasts. Participants included independent watchmakers and micro-maisons. The fair was forced to suspend due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it will return in 2023 with expanded quality and quantity. The theme of the fair is "Essence of Time." This major event, rare even in the world, brings together the pinnacle of watchmaking in one place.

The Singapore Watch Fair will return in 2023 with even more quality and quantity. The Essence of Time Museum will feature rare pieces and models that are rarely seen.

Sandro Fratini, one of the world's leading collectors, has collaborated with Singapore-based watch service company Future Grail to display rare timepieces and exquisite limited edition models from Patek Philippe, Rolex, and other brands, selected by horology expert Arnaud Tellier.

"Talking Time"

This year, collectors and international journalists will gather together for a panel discussion.

The panel discussion will feature collector Sandro Fratini, as well as world-renowned journalists Gary Getz (!) and Bernardo Chong.

The highlight is the workshop (by invitation only)

Although it is invitation-only, the hands-on workshops that visitors can enjoy are also worth checking out. There are plenty of workshops other than those related to watches, making this one of the major events at the fair.

What's interesting are the non-watch-related workshops. The workshops, labeled "immersive," include a masterclass by Meiko Tailor, a long-established Singaporean tailor, and a private whiskey collection.

Stay tuned for Singapore Watch Fair 2023!

This event, which is aimed at watch enthusiasts, is quite rare even on a global scale. Communication in English is essential, but events where you can speak directly with independent watchmakers and micro-maison makers are extremely rare, except in Switzerland. It would be a great idea to combine your visit to the event with sightseeing in Singapore. As official partners of the Singapore Watch Fair, Chronos Japan and webChronos plan to provide a full report on the event. Stay tuned!
