Everard launches "Scaphograph 300 MCMLIX Save the Reef" exclusively in Japan to help protect Okinawa's coral reefs

Everard has released the "Scafograph 300 MCMLIX Save the Reef" as part of its support for the activities of Save the Reef, a general incorporated association that aims to conserve and restore coral reefs in Okinawa. This special edition model is based on the "MCMLIX" model, part of the company's "Scafograph" collection, and features a coral motif design. Only 20 units will be available in Japan, and will be on sale from April 1, 2024.

Special model dedicated to protecting Okinawa's coral reefs

　Coral reefs are home to approximately 25% of the world's marine fish species, and as fishing grounds they provide a food source for 5 to 10 billion people worldwide. However, they are currently facing a threat to their survival due to human marine development, as well as global warming, extreme weather such as typhoons, and the presence of predatory animals. Save the Reef is a general incorporated association that works to protect and restore coral reefs in order to solve this problem.

　Everard has announced a collaboration with Save the Reef, supporting the movement to spread awareness of the current state of coral reefs and create a better ocean. As part of this collaboration, they have released the new "Scaphograph 300MCMLIX Save the Reef."

　The base of the new model is the MCMLIX from Eberhard's signature diver's line, the Scaphograph. The coloring is a green reminiscent of "Miracle Coral," a coral that is resistant to global warming, and the special edition model features a vintage feel, a coral-colored second hand, and a "Save the Reef" engraving.

　The strap comes with a vintage-style leather strap accented with red stitching, as well as a replacement NATO strap with a coral motif.

　A portion of the sales from this work will be used to support the activities of Koji Kinjo, the representative of Sangobata, a coral farming facility located in Okinawa. Kinjo is a leading expert in coral farming, having been the first in the world to successfully cultivate coral and have it spawn after being released into the ocean. He also discovered the miracle coral that is suited to global warming, and together with the general incorporated association Save the Reef, he has a vision to spread this miracle coral to the world's oceans.
