Just in time for summer, Richard Mille has added two new models in more vibrant colors to its RM 65-01 collection (currently available in red gold & Carbon TPT®, titanium, Carbon TPT®, and gray Quartz TPT®). Inspired by the blue sky and fiery celestial bodies, the former features a pastel blue Quartz TPT® case, while the latter features a dark yellow Quartz TPT® case, warmly showcasing the splendor of the gears visible through the see-through dial. The dark yellow Quartz TPT® model is limited to 120 pieces.

 Richard Mille has added two new models to the RM 65-01 collection. One features a pastel blue Quartz TPT® case reminiscent of the blue sky, and the other a dark yellow Quartz TPT® case inspired by fiery celestial bodies. The latter is a limited edition of 120 pieces.

 Both models benefit from the exceptional qualities of Quartz TPT®, developed by NTPT™ (NoRTh ThiN Ply TeChNology). Developed exclusively for Richard Mille, this composite material is made from multiple layers of silica fibres impregnated with resin and heated to 120°C under 6 bar pressure. As well as being extremely durable, Quartz TPT® also lends an appealing touch of elegance to the watch's aesthetics.


Movement: Cal.RMAC4

Caliber RMAC4

Skeletonized automatic movement. Hours, minutes, seconds (at 6 o'clock). Date display. Split-seconds chronograph (30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, 12-hour counter at 9 o'clock). Function selector. Rapid winding. Variable-geometry rotor.

 The Caliber RMAC4 with a six-tooth column wheel ensures precise timekeeping. This automatic movement is equipped with a variable-inertia balance wheel that vibrates at 36,000 vibrations per hour. Pressing the pusher at 8 o'clock quickly winds the mainspring in the barrel. This chronograph has a power reserve of approximately 60 hours, and the function selector on the crown allows for quick switching from winding mode (W) to date display (D) or hour and minute display (h).


High-speed winding mechanism

Another notable feature of this movement is that in addition to winding the mainspring using a rotor and crown, it is also equipped with a high-speed winding mechanism. This mechanism allows the barrel to be wound quickly even if the watch has stopped. Pressing the pusher at 8 o'clock 125 times will fully wind the barrel. This function is ideal for quickly winding a watch that has not been worn for a long time.


High-frequency variable inertia balance

 It's also worth mentioning that the watch is equipped with a free-sprung balance with a high beat rate of 36,000 vibrations per hour. This balance ensures high reliability in the event of shocks or during movement assembly and disassembly, and also ensures excellent timekeeping accuracy over the long term. This new balance developed by Richard Mille is capable of measuring time to within 1/10th of a second, making it ideal for a split-second chronograph watch used in sports.

 The baseplate and bridges are made of grade 5 titanium, with a gray electroplasma treatment, while the bridges are black PVD-treated and gray electroplasma-treated. Grade 5 titanium is a biocompatible, highly corrosion-resistant, and extremely hard alloy, ensuring the smooth functioning of the gear train. The alloy is composed of 90% grade 5 titanium, 6% aluminum, and 4% vanadium. This composition further enhances the material's mechanical properties, making it an alloy often used in the aerospace, aviation, and automotive industries. The baseplate of the Caliber RMAC4 has been optimized to achieve an extremely high specific strength.
