The dial features a white Grand Feu enamel dial crafted by Donze Cadrans, an enamel workshop under the umbrella of Ulysse Nardin. Grand Feu enamel, which dates back to the 17th century, takes its name from the heat required to melt the enamel powder in a kiln over a Grand Feu (large fire). Donze Cadrans' technical expertise in crafting delicate dials is highly regarded within Switzerland, and its reputation is beginning to spread worldwide.
Ulysse Nardin, which made its name through the success of its high-precision marine deck chronometers and remains deeply connected to the sea today, is now releasing the new "Marine Tourbillon," which it unveiled at SIHH in 2017. The UN-128 caliber used in the "Marine Tourbillon" features a unique escapement and balance spring, made with silicium, a material that Ulysse Nardin has previously proven to be cutting-edge. The dial features a clean, vertical layout with the power reserve at 12 o'clock and the flying tourbillon at 6 o'clock, making it easy to see the time and complex mechanisms.
