Audemars Piguet has announced the new Royal Oak Concept Split Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date. This model is based on the model released in 2023 and features a newly developed CFT carbon middle case.
This is the latest addition to the Royal Oak Concept line, which incorporates innovative technology. It features a split-seconds chronograph with a flyback mechanism, a second time zone display, and a large date display, all in a newly developed CFT carbon case. A new Royal Oak Concept model clad in a new generation of forged carbon
Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date, which was released in 2023, has been expanded with a model that uses ChromaForged Technology (CFT), which the company's R&D team spent five years developing.The company was the first in the world to incorporate forged carbon fiber into watchmaking in 2007, and has now further refined its technology with the newly developed CFT carbon fiber, which has excellent resistance to humidity, heat, and impact, and allows for direct coloring of carbon fiber.
This new model uses CFT carbon fiber mixed with luminous blue fiber for the case material, allowing you to enjoy its mysterious glow in the dark. The octagonal bezel with eight screws, the symbol of the Royal Oak, is made of black ceramic. Despite being a hard material, it is skillfully finished with both satin and polished finishes.
The futuristic design of the watch features titanium push button guards, while the crown, push buttons, and case back are made of ceramic, making extensive use of lightweight materials throughout.
The dial is openworked, just like the 2023 Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date. It features a large date at 12 o'clock, a second time zone display at 3 o'clock, a small seconds at 6 o'clock, and a 30-minute counter at 9 o'clock. The subdials and chapter ring are colored blue, matching the blue fiber of the case. The indexes, hands, and large date are coated with luminous paint to ensure nighttime visibility.
The watch comes with a blue rubber strap as well as a black and blue rubber strap, which can be easily swapped thanks to the interchangeable system.
The movement is the Cal. 4407, which is based on the Cal. 4401 flyback chronograph movement. In addition to a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, the watch also features a large date, GMT display, a flyback mechanism that allows the chronograph to be reset and restarted instantly, and a split-seconds hand that can measure lap times.
