Bell & Ross has announced the bold and innovative new model "BR-X5 Blue Lum," clad in titanium and a luminous composite material. This model is a limited edition of 500 pieces, following the "BR-X5 Green Lum" released last year, and is a powerful and original model that modern watch enthusiasts can enjoy day or night.

Revolutionizing visibility

Deepening the brand's concepts is one of Bell & Ross's strengths. By investing in research and innovation, particularly in the field of luminescence, the brand has aimed to create watches in which the entire case glows, going beyond the dial. To achieve this, Bell & Ross engineers developed the luminous composite material LM3D. Made from quartz fiber and a luminescent material that emits a brightly colored light, this composite material was used in the "BR-X5 Green Lum" released last year. Now, a new color variation, the "BR-X5 Blue Lum," is being introduced, emitting a powerful blue light.
Powerful conceptual design

The BR-X5's mission is to push technical and aesthetic boundaries. To achieve this ambition, the 41mm case's multi-layered structure is achieved by alternating between the luminous composite material LM3D and grade 2 titanium with a black DLC coating and microblasted finish, a material reminiscent of the world of aviation. This case structure also reduces weight without sacrificing robustness. The mechanism housing, machined from a single block of titanium, is inserted between two shields made from the luminous composite material LM3D, emitting a powerful blue light.

Optimal readability day and night

The BR-X5 Blue Lum's design philosophy is clear: legibility is key. The matte black dial and anti-reflective sapphire crystal provide clear contrast. All graduations are precise, and the indices, 3-day power reserve subdial, and date window are clearly visible. The skeletonized hour and minute hands are filled with Super-LumiNova for even greater legibility.
Luminous Expert
Bell & Ross is a pioneer in democratizing luminous technology and reinforcing its category as an innovative and distinctive style element. While previously limited to a few practical functions, luminous technology was particularly useful for hands and indices intended for use in dark environments, such as scuba diving or in airplane cockpits. While radium pioneered the development of luminous displays in the 1930s, its quality was limited by its toxicity and limited glow time. This led engineers and watchmakers to continually research ways to improve it.
The introduction of Super-LumiNova, a luminous material, in 1993 was an important step. Seeking further advancements in this field, devised a unique concept for amplifying the power of light. This concept is embodied in the Lum collection, which began with the BR 03-92 Horolum in 2017.
A year later, the BR 03-92 Nightlum was released, featuring exceptional luminescence in the numerals, indexes, and hands. In 2019, the BR 03-92 Full Lum was further developed, with the entire dial coated in Super-LumiNova, enhancing legibility through contrast.
In 2020, the BR 03-92 Grey Lum was released, which has a particularly strong green glow reminiscent of runway lights, followed by the BR 03-92 Diver Full Lum, which features a dial with varying shades of luminescence, from light green to pale yellow.
In 2021, the limited-edition vintage model "BR V2-94 Full Lum" was released, bringing a new vision to the collection, demonstrating how the Full Lum concept can be perfectly fused with the refined aesthetics of classic watches. In 2022, the BR V2-92 Full Lum was added to this collection as a three-hand watch with an astonishing luminous effect. Then, last year, the "BR-X5 Green Lum" was released, featuring an unprecedented case construction that combines titanium with the luminous composite material LM3D.
