Christian van der Klaauw CEO Pim Korslag

Pim Korslag, CEO of Christian van der Klaauw, will be holding a talk event at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi on November 3, 2024. Born in the Netherlands in 1981, he made a name for himself as a master watchmaker for Frederique Constant, before serving as CEO of numerous watch brands and becoming CEO of Christian van der Klaauw in 2021.

Two new models on special display

To coincide with this talk event, two models announced in 2024 will also be unveiled: the Grand Planetarium Eccentric Manufacture and the CVDK Planetarium Nagoya City Science Museum Model.

"Grand Planetarium Eccentric Manufacture"

The recently announced 50th anniversary model, the Grand Planetarium Eccentric Manufacture, is a masterpiece packed with Christian van der Klaauw's sophisticated technology. It's the brand's first timepiece to display the real-time positions of all eight planets in the solar system (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune). These planets move in eccentric orbits to reproduce their actual celestial movements as faithfully as possible. This model was created by the company's third generation of CEOs: founder Christian van der Klaauw, his successors Daniel and Maria Raintes, and current CEO and Master Watchmaker Pim Korslaght.

"CVDK Planetarium Nagoya City Science Museum Model"

The "CVDK Planetarium Nagoya City Science Museum Model" is a limited edition model born out of a collaboration with the Nagoya City Science Museum, which boasts one of the world's largest planetarium domes. The concept is "a collaboration between the world's largest and the world's smallest," and the model bridges the gap between astronomy and timepieces, which could be said to be the origin of time. Only six pieces will be available worldwide, in honor of the world's smallest planetarium, which displays the six planets in the solar system from Mercury to Saturn, which Christiaan van der Klaauw has been working on for many years. The eye-catching dial is a reproduction of the spherical dome that is the symbol of the Nagoya City Science Museum. You'll want to see the intricate hand-engraving technique up close.
