The Black Tie was first released in 1972 as a limited-edition model with a precious metal case. Andy Warhol, one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century, was known to be a fan of Piaget watches, and in 1973 he purchased the Black Tie as his seventh Piaget watch. Four of these Piaget watches, including the Black Tie, are currently housed in Piaget's private collection.

Andy Warhol was also a close friend of Piaget's fourth president, Yves Piaget, and was a regular member of the Piaget Society, attending events. Based on this special friendship, the watch was released as a collaboration between Piaget and the Andy Warhol Foundation, with the official name changed to "Piaget Andy Warhol."

New "Piaget Andy Warhol"

The 18K white gold case retains the large 45mm diameter from the original model, with the bezel featuring a Clous de Paris pattern for a touch of elegance. The dial features a blue meteorite base, dauphine-style hour and minute hands, slim indexes, and the Piaget logo, creating a simple yet elegant look. The watch is powered by the automatic movement, Cal. 501P1.

This is the first Piaget Andy Warhol collection, which will be available with a variety of customization options, including up to 10 different ornamental stone dials and a meteorite dial. Proceeds from the collection will be used by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Art of Piaget to support grants that support the creation, exhibition, and documentation of contemporary art.
