Left-handed model
The Left-Handed watch first appeared in the 1960s with the ref. 6152/1, marking a major evolution in watch design. Giuseppe Panerai's vision was to support divers' missions by allowing them to wear their watch on the right wrist, freeing up the left wrist for other important instruments. The lever-lock crown protector, which allows for quick operation with the crown, prevents seawater from entering during diving, enhancing airtightness. The innovative design, operable with the left hand, allowed divers to simultaneously wear a compass, depth gauge, and other instruments in addition to the watch, reflecting the diver's needs.
Cal.P.5000 movement
The Luminor Destro Otto Giorni continues the brand's tradition today. At 44mm, it's smaller than the original's 47mm and is equipped with a hand-wound Caliber P.5000 movement with an 8-day power reserve. This impressively long power reserve is inspired by the Angelus Caliber SF240, originally used by the Italian Navy's commando submarines.
