Blancpain has added three new ceramic models to its Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe collection. This collection, which was created with an urban aesthetic in mind, has been further expanded with these new models, making it suitable for a variety of urban wear.
Blancpain releases three new Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe watches
Blancpain launched the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe in 1956. The collection began as an urbanized version of the Fifty Fathoms, which the brand had released three years earlier. While the Fifty Fathoms is said to be the prototype of the modern diver's watch, incorporating elements necessary for professional divers during diving, the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe was designed for everyday wear while still possessing the specifications for undersea exploration.
Given this background, the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe offers a lineup of distinctive dial colors, including the newly added flyback chronograph model and two three-hand + date models.
Both are made of black ceramic and not only have a design that exudes a powerful character, but also have practicality suitable for daily use, such as scratch resistance and a lightweight feel.
With the addition of this new model, consumers can now choose from the ceramic-clad Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe with three functions: a chronograph with flyback, three hands + date, or a complete calendar + moon phase; three dial colors (blue, green, and black); and three types of bracelets (NATO, sail canvas, and high-tech ceramic).
Flyback chronograph model

One of the new models is a chronograph with a blue dial and flyback function. The blue sunray finish is said to be "reminiscent of sunlight shining into the deep sea."
The 43.6mm diameter, 15.25mm thick case is made of black ceramic, as mentioned above. The bezel features a matte black ceramic insert, giving the watch a sporty yet sophisticated look.
The watch is available in three different styles: a NATO strap, a sail canvas strap, and a bracelet made of high-tech ceramic, which is roughly five times harder than stainless steel yet 25% lighter. Like the previous ceramic Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe, the ceramic has a delicate satin finish.
The movement is the automatic Caliber F385, which has also been used in the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe. Based on the Caliber 1185 from Frederic Piguet (now Blancpain Manufacture), this chronograph features a vertical clutch and column wheel, and a flyback function has been added. Furthermore, the Caliber F385 has been upgraded to a high beat rate of 36,000 vibrations per hour, and the balance spring is now made of silicon, further enhancing its high performance. The movement can be viewed through the transparent case back.

The three-hand + date display model is available with either a blue or green dial.
Like the flyback chronograph model, the dial has a sunray finish, so both the blue and green will show different expressions depending on the light.
The blue dial features a black ceramic insert, while the green dial features a green ceramic insert.
The lineup also includes three straps: a NATO strap, a sail canvas strap, and a high-tech ceramic bracelet, so you can choose the one that suits your taste.
The watch is equipped with the automatic movement, Cal. 1315. Three barrels arranged in series provide a long power reserve of approximately five days, making it not only highly practical but also contributing to maintaining stable accuracy. The balance spring in this movement is also made of silicon. The transparent case back allows a glimpse of the 18K gold rotor with a NAC (platinum alloy) coating, providing a pleasing view.
