After more than two years of intensive development, Hanhart presents the new Preventer HD12. With the introduction of its exclusive HD12™ steel, the manufacturer from Germany's Black Forest region has set a new benchmark for scratch-resistant cases. As an extension of the popular Pioneer collection, the Preventer HD12 meets the global trend for three-hand models with a center second hand and a compact 39mm diameter. With its easy-to-read dial, 39mm diameter, 15 bar water resistance, and screw-down crown, it is the perfect all-rounder for everyday wear.

Hanhart's new HD12™ steel achieves exceptional surface hardness without compromising the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. For the first time in Hanhart's history, this innovative material is being used for the case of the new Preventer HD12™ watch. Hanhart combines two high-tech processes in the complex, multi-stage manufacturing of the HD12™ case to preserve the case's visual details in addition to optimal scratch resistance.
As a result, the new Preventer HD12 is available in brushed, matte and glossy finishes, as well as an extremely hard surface.
HD12™ steel surface is five times harder than 316L
In the first step, large amounts of carbon are diffused into the stainless steel during a surface hardening process. This creates a gradual transition from a hard surface to a soft core. This process offers a significant advantage over pure coatings, as it prevents brittleness. Next, a transparent hard coating (PVD) is applied for additional protection. This process gives HD12™ steel an outstanding surface hardness of up to 1200 HV (Vickers hardness), making the watch case many times more scratch-resistant. In comparison, regular 316L steel has a surface hardness of approximately 220 HV.
The Preventor HD12 features a striking, bold dial in two colors: dark blue and black. It features three central hands, including a distinctive red-tipped second hand, ensuring precise readings. The minute and second hands have curved tips to avoid errors caused by parallax. Both the numerals and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova® C1, which glows in the dark and ensures optimal legibility at all times.
