In January 2024, Seiko Watch held the "Extraordinary Watch Exhibition" at Seiko Seed in Harajuku, Tokyo. The second installment will be held on Friday, December 20th. This time, "targets including fictional characters were set." Designers and other professionals in the field racked their brains over the products, which were so exclusive they were the result of intense effort. Don't miss the many products!

"Extremely Exclusive Watch Exhibition 2" is being held!

Have you heard of the "Extremely Exclusive Watches Exhibition," which took place from January 19 to March 31, 2024? The "power design project" was an internal Seiko Watch experimental project conducted from 2001 to 2009, with the concept of proposing new possibilities in design. Relaunched in 2022, the project culminated in the aforementioned exhibition. The second installment, "power design project 2025: Extremly Exclusive Watches Exhibition 2," will be held on Friday, December 20 of the same year. The location, as with the previous one, will be Seiko Seed in Harajuku, Tokyo, a "hub where you can experience the various joys of watches."

Along with the slogan "Watches that 99% of people don't need," there are illustrations of each booth featuring fun-looking characters. From these illustrations alone, it's hard to imagine what kind of exhibits are on display. We encourage you to go and see for yourself.

A workshop is scheduled for Saturday, January 25th. Readers who are interested should check out the special website.

An exhibition that only Seiko, a company that has produced exclusive design watches, can offer

The venue is lined with booths for each theme, where you can touch and feel the actual watch and check out the details of the product on the touch panel at each booth. Also on display are some very exclusive watches, as well as past exclusive watches made by Seiko.

Seiko celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2021. Over its long history, the company has produced "specially designed watches" for a variety of fields, including diver's watches and railway watches.

This exhibition is something that only Seiko could realize. The theme given to the designers of the project was a new proposal for a "dedicated wristwatch." For the second "Extra-dedicated wristwatch" exhibition, six Seiko designers set targets, including fictional characters. They thought about the image of each character and racked their brains to explore all the possibilities of a wristwatch.

These six watches are so exclusive that they're useless to many people, but exciting to look at.

Ninja-specific wristwatch

"A ninja can tell the time without looking at the hands!" This watch allows ninjas, who operate in the dark, to check the time without using luminous paint that would give away their location to their targets.

Club DJ Watch

"Captivate with your skills and your wrist." This watch was developed to allow DJs who excite the crowd to lose track of time while also captivating the audience with their wrist.

A watch for boiled egg lovers

"My egg-boiling skills have been greatly improved by breaking away from soft-boiled eggs!" With the touch of a button, this ordinary (but not ordinary) watch quickly transforms into a timer for boiling eggs! The flange on the dial shows the approximate boiling time depending on the condition of the yolk.

Vampire's watch

"Dedicated to the ruler of the night who captivates those who see him." This watch is for vampires, who can only be active at night. The function that lets you know the number of days that have passed since you last drank blood is a must-have for vampires.

Santa Claus watch

"For the smiles of all children." This wristwatch was developed for Santa Claus, who flies around the world delivering presents after children have gone to sleep. It also has fun details such as a pocket watch-style design and a red reindeer on the tip of the hands.

A watch for girls in love

"Measure time and that person's feelings for me." A watch that usually tells the time can also tell you how that person feels!? The rounded shape is cute, and the dome crystal is designed to conceal a girl's inner thoughts.

On December 19th, I covered the exhibition at a media event held before the event. Each of the dedicated watches is fascinating, and while I would love to feature them all in detail, I would like readers to see them in person and enjoy the surprise and excitement. So, I would like to introduce one watch that I really like, along with a photo. After torn between a "Vampire Watch" and a "Boiled Egg Lover Watch," I decided to include a photo of a "Boiled Egg Lover Watch" since I love boiled eggs.

This watch is perfect for those who love boiled eggs. It uses Seiko's metronome watch to create a watch that also functions as a timer for boiling eggs. The flange around the outer edge of the dial features a boiling time guide based on the condition of the yolk, allowing you to cook your eggs to your desired doneness.

The case and strap are made from eggshells, and the round white case is indeed made from an egg.

The reason why some parts are made of stainless steel is because they are used to crack eggshells! Designer Kiyotaka Sakai said with a laugh, "I actually thought about adding a sharp part to the tip, but since that would be dangerous while wearing it, I decided to design it as a wristwatch."
