Citizen has been donating mangrove seedlings through Eco Tree ACTION, an international NGO, and in 2024, the fourth year of its activities, the company will donate approximately 26,000 seedlings.

If you don't need the watch box, a mangrove will be donated.

Eco Tree ACTION is an initiative in which one mangrove seedling is donated for each box purchased when purchasing a Citizen brand watch (limited to Japan). The initiative began on November 1, 2020, with the aim of reducing packaging resources and donating mangrove seedlings, an important plant for preventing global warming, to be planted in Cambodia.

In 2024, the fourth year of the project, approximately 26,000 seedlings were donated, based on the total number of boxes not needed for the year (shipment basis) up to October 31st. Approximately 26,000 boxes are equivalent to approximately 2.5 tons of CO2 emissions (equivalent to the annual CO2 absorption by approximately 150 cedar trees). Mangroves absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, contributing to the prevention of global warming, which is believed to be a cause of climate change. Furthermore, mangrove planting not only protects the diversity of the many organisms that live in brackish waters, but also helps protect the livelihoods of people living in coastal areas.
