The LUC Lunar One is a culmination of Chopard's finest craftsmanship. Rough-cut components are reworked and trimmed by hand, then hand-decorated using traditional techniques. Hundreds of tools, each with its own purpose, are used, even on components hidden by bridges. These processes include beveling, satin-finishing, polishing, circular-graining, and the application of Côtes de Genève. Each piece is then individually inspected and hand-assembled in the workshop. Chopard has long maintained the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva, a testament to the high level of craftsmanship and meticulous quality. The Hallmark of Geneva is a certification covering aesthetic and technical elements, awarded by an independent institution in accordance with laws enacted by the Canton of Geneva. It sets unparalleled standards for both the case and movement, including construction, appearance, and precision.
Only a one-day difference in 122 years
Adjusted by Chopard's master watchmakers, the moon phase is astronomically accurate, with a deviation of just 57.2 seconds between new moons. In other words, it takes 122 years for the moon phase to deviate by one day from the actual moon, at which point it will need to be adjusted.

Hand-guilloched dial
Since the first LUC 1860, launched in 1997, the dials of LUC models have been crafted in the purest watchmaking tradition, with guilloching becoming the collection's signature. This ancient craft, which was on the verge of extinction in the 1990s, is kept alive today by manufacturers like Chopard, which own a few rare guilloching lathes. Using these lathes, expert artisans use chisels to carve thin metal surfaces, engraving repeating patterns with an accuracy of just a tenth of a millimeter.
The most eye-catching feature of the LUC Lunar One is the large date display, displayed in two small apertures at 12 o'clock. The lower part of the minute track is adorned with a concentric snail pattern, while the dauphine fusee hands and wedge-shaped indexes are crafted in white or rose gold to match the case material. The two subdials are also snailed, except for the center of the counter at 9 o'clock. The counter at 9 o'clock displays 24 hours and also functions as a day/night indicator. The upper part (day) is engraved with a sunburst pattern, symbolizing the presence of the sun, while the lower part is engraved with a horizontal motif evocative of the tranquility of night. In other words, all displays are designed with perfect legibility in mind, as well as harmony in design.
