Jean Rousseau, a leather goods manufacturing brand, has begun selling and accepting pattern orders for the "Chic Bombe" watch strap (four colors, from 31,900 yen/tax included), a collaboration with the eighth-generation "Sawaya Jubei," a long-established Kyoto weaving company founded in 1776.
Who is Sawaya Jubei?
Founded in 1776, Sawaya has been crafting kimonos and obi of exceptional quality in Nishijin, Kyoto, for nearly 250 years. The current head of the family, Sawaya Jubei, is the eighth generation of a family of weavers. Sharing a respect for craftsmanship and meticulous attention to materials, Sawaya and Jean Rousseau have teamed up to create a collection of leather accessories that combine exceptional obi with precious leathers. Sawaya Jubei's obi fabrics, used for watch straps and leather accessories, include "Kodai Nishiki" and "Karikura Sarasa," which have over 400 patterns and 1000 base colors. Using excess material from the obi production process, classic watch straps have been tailored to match the obi fabric.
What is "Schick Bombe"?
Chic is a classic style with a wraparound design and no stitching, while bombe refers to a design where the belt is thicker in the center and becomes thinner towards the tip.

The thickness of the strap itself is 3.5mm on the watch case side and 2.5mm at the eyelet.
