Péquigne's proud in-house movement has a single barrel and a power reserve of approximately 88 hours, and the flat three-disc jumping day-date display can be operated regardless of the time of day. It's a semi-complication designed for travel, with a subdial at 4 o'clock displaying a second time zone and a subdial at 6 o'clock displaying day and night. Automatic winding. Stainless steel (diameter 42.0mm). 21,600 vph. Water resistant to 100m. 1,110,000 yen (excluding tax).

About 25km west of La Chaux-de-Fonds, the mecca of the Swiss watch industry, into France, is Morteau, France, where the watch brand Péquignet, founded in 1973, has its workshop. Morteau has long been home to a watchmaking school, and many of its graduates have worked at Péquignet or La Chaux-de-Fonds. Since 1975, only Péquignet had the glorious motto "Made in France." However, in 2012, the company was pushed to the brink of bankruptcy by the effects of the Lehman Shock. However, an investor with an IT background emerged and successfully took over management.

One of the reasons for the emergence of the White Knight was Péquignet's in-house movement, the "Leut Royal," released in 2010. It featured an 88-hour power reserve, an instantaneous day and date display that could be operated at any time, a small second hand, and a moon phase display as standard, all semi-complications, with space for additional functions. The "Leut Royal" movement was supposed to have propelled Péquignet to success. However, in December 2016, the company once again found itself in a management crisis. In 2015, almost all brands thrived on the inbound tourism boom, breaking sales records. Capital investment was thriving, and plans for new factory construction were being considered and implemented everywhere. Péquignet was also doing well. However, in 2016, inbound tourism consumption disappeared from around the world. The reason for this was the Chinese government's announcement to protect domestic consumption by imposing a 60% tariff on undeclared watches and jewelry discovered at customs.

Because the French government had provided Pequignet with loans aimed at fostering domestic businesses, the Besançon Commercial Court gave the company several months to find new management. Finally, in mid-May, the new president, Dani ROYER, 36, held top positions in R&D at Valfleurier, Arnold & Son, and Carl F. Bucherer, and has served as Pequignet's R&D head since 2014. We hope that his solid management will help Pequignet regain the luster of the "Made in France" brand. There are many specialty stores in Japan that continue to sell the "Le Royal" movement, citing its superiority.

The new president, Dani ROYER, 36, spent six years developing movements at Richemont Valfleurier, where he also served as an executive officer. He then moved to Arnold & Son, where he was responsible for product development as an executive committee member and project leader. He then served as head of R&D at Carl F. Bucherer, and has been head of R&D at Péquigne since 2014.
