Richard Mille has simultaneously released two signature models for top athletes, each featuring the in-house thin automatic caliber CRMA7. One is a model for Wayde van Niekerk, an Olympic gold medalist and world record holder in the 300m and 400m, and the other is a model for Mutaz Essa Barshim, a two-time Olympic medalist and Asian record holder in the high jump.
Based on the concept of a watch that acts as a second skin for athletes, the two models are ultra-lightweight and ultra-thin, with the case reinforced by four extensions. Furthermore, a new strap is used for optimal wear. It is seamless, non-slip, and highly elastic, fitting snugly to the wrist. The adoption of this lightweight strap has reduced the overall weight of the watch to just 32g.
Both models will be worn by the athletes for the first time at the World Athletics Championships, which begin on August 4th at the Olympic Stadium in London.
