Gerald Genta has announced the Gentissima Ursin 41, a sporty model with a larger diameter than previous models. The dial highlights the random, linear structure of the meteorite, and the rubber strap echoes the distinctive beading, making it a masculine presence in the collection.

The Gentissima Ursin 41, with its expanded case diameter of 41mm and sporty rubber strap, is a masculine presence in the collection. The use of meteorite on the dial also scales up the story of the material.

Gentissima Ursin adds a new case diameter

Gérald Genta has announced the Gentissima Ursin 41, adding a new case size to its existing collection. While the Gentissima Ursin, which debuted in 2024, was available in a 36.5mm diameter, the new model boasts a striking 41mm case. While the previous six models featured dials made from natural materials grown on Earth, such as mother-of-pearl, opal, and onyx, this new model takes the story of materials to the next level by incorporating meteorites from an extraterrestrial planet. Available in two colors, blue and green, the dial color can be coordinated with the color of the rubber strap.

The origins of the Gentissima Ursin date back to an incident that took place on a Mediterranean island in 1994. Inspired by the spherical shape of a sea urchin (called Ursin in French), Gérald Genta came up with the design that would later become the core of the collection: a circular case studded with beads.

The pieces born from this process express the "paradox of nature" with their orderly yet organic, spiky, sculptural shapes, and symbolize the creativity of Gérald Genta, who was always searching for new designs. Genta's wife, Evelyn Genta, is said to have admired the design at first sight, and the special edition Ursin watch that Genta gifted her in 1995 remains her favorite even 30 years later. Given this historical background, the Gentissima Ursin can be said to be one of the Maison's most representative models.

The case is made of sandblasted grade 5 titanium with white gold beads, just like the previous model. While the previous model had a diameter of 36.5mm, this model has been enlarged to 41mm, making it a more masculine presence in the collection.

Furthermore, the strap has been changed from the traditional leather to a rubber strap incorporating beading. The case size and strap construction give the watch a sporty presence, while the subdued color tones and sparkle of the beads give it a chic look, which is a major feature of this model.

This model is water resistant to 50m, which also gives it a sporty feel, in contrast to previous models which tended to have a more jewelry watch feel.

The meteorite used on the dial reveals its texture, and its random, linear appearance gives it a rough, sporty feel. As no two watches have the same structure, each one is unique.
