Casa Loewe Ginza opened on Thursday, December 4, 2025. This largest store in Japan is located in Ginza's most iconic location, at the intersection of Chuo-dori and Miyuki-dori. Also noteworthy is the world's first gift counter, lined with chocolates and icing cookies.
An impressive store with the full Loewe lineup
Rooted in Casa Loewe's design concept of combining the intimacy of an art collector's residence with sophisticated retail space, the store showcases a fusion of Spanish sensibilities and Japanese design. The unique, handcrafted muddy green ceramic tiles feature irregular glaze textures and slight depressions that create shifts in color and reflect light. This deep muddy green evokes Ginza's past as a low-lying marshland at the tip of Edomaejima.
The exterior ceramic tiles are seamlessly integrated into the interior, bringing color and shine to the concrete space. Various marbles, including Ancient Green, Cristallo Iceberg, Pinta Verde, and Sahara Brown, are scattered throughout the store. Brass window frames evoke another part of Ginza's past, when it was home to a mint that thrived in the production of silver and gold coins.
A central staircase, surrounded by green ceramic tiles and featuring a carefully handcrafted wooden banister, curves and connects the four floors vertically. Natural light floods the store, further highlighting the rich textures of stone, wood, ceramic and concrete.
The furniture, which harmonizes with the interior of the store, is decorated with calming and warm pieces such as George Nakashima's Mirra Chair and Cushion Chair, Gerrit Thomas Rietveld's Utrecht Armchair, and Isamu Noguchi's Akari E Pendant Lamp.
To coincide with the opening, a limited edition color of the new hammock "Flip," Light Ghost, will also be released for sale. It will be priced at 488,400 yen (tax included).
Signature Loewe designs include a fluted leather bench, a black iron martini table and a burnt wood podium, as well as the new Loewe Recrafted coffee table, born from a quest for sustainability and innovation.
The table is a one-of-a-kind piece made from 95% recycled surplus leather from Loewe's atelier, celebrating the beauty of materials given new life. Beneath the table is a custom-made carpet woven in Spain, which, combined with reinterpretations of bright, abstract tapestries by British textile designer John Allen, such as "Orkney Landscape Sunset" and "Autumn in Orkney," contributes to the creation of a space that immerses the world of Loewe.
Numerous works of art are displayed in the museum-like interior
Highlights include two lamps that Loewe unveiled at Milan Salone 2024. Anthea Hamilton's Kimono Lamp, a luminous garment-like piece made from lacquered wood and frosted glass, is on display on the first floor, while Cerith Wyn Evans' neon piece hangs from the ceiling on the fourth floor and can be seen from outside through the windows.
Other works on display include those by Lucie Rie, Elliott Hodgkin, Hilton Nell, Ovidu Maitek, and Albert York. Works by Japanese artists are also displayed throughout the store. The anamorphic ceramic work "Realm of Living Things 19" by Kunimasa Aoki, winner of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2025, is displayed by a window on the second floor, while the leather piece "Basket 6" by bamboo craftsman Hafu Matsumoto fuses traditional techniques with contemporary artistry.
Additionally, Kazunori Hamana's textured ceramic vases, created in collaboration with goldsmith Yukiko Kuroda, embody the spirit of Japanese restoration techniques.
Sweets for sale at the gift counter
The world's first gift counter will feature traditional Spanish sweets such as palmeras and polvorons, as well as chocolates. To commemorate the opening, special cookies by Japanese icing cookie artist Fiocco will also be available for a limited time.
