Every year on December 2nd, the birthday of founder Michel Parmigiani, Parmigiani Fleurier unveils a special piece that crystallizes the brand's creativity. To commemorate his 75th birthday, the brand unveiled a unique piece called "La Ravenal," in the style of a Lépine pocket watch. For Michel, "time" is not simply a unit of measurement, but a living substance honed by harmony, balance, and patience, and this piece embodies that philosophy.

La Ravenale is named after the Madagascar native plant, Ravenala madagascariensis. Its fan-shaped leaves are characterized by their golden ratio, and its trunk collects rainwater, providing travelers with access to water in uncharted lands. This plant has long been beloved. Michel Parmigiani focuses on the order that underlies the forms of nature. This spirit is embodied in the design of the case, dial, and bridge engravings, as well as the opal and jade marquetry that adorns the caseback.

The heart of this Objet d'Art is a minute repeater movement from the 1920s. Crafted by Edouard Cohen, one of the most revered Swiss brands in Geneva, it had been kept for many years in Michel Parmigiani's private collection. This movement, with such exceptional provenance, is paired with a simple, elegant, and modern dial, based on the contemporary Parmigiani Fleurier design codes.
This exceptional movement is housed in an 18K white gold case. The back of the movement is fitted with a double case back, the exterior of which is covered in stone marquetry of opal and jade. Each piece of opal is individually cut, shaped and polished. The jade used alongside it diffuses light rather than reflects it, creating a quiet contrast with the opal's sparkle.
