Seiko Presage has released a new model in the "Classic Series Craftsmanship Enamel Dial." The Classic Series Craftsmanship is a collection that incorporates traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The dials feature techniques from master Japanese artisans, including enamel, lacquer, Arita ware, and cloisonné.

The newly announced "Ref. SART013" uses enamel, which is made by baking a glassy glaze onto the surface of metal. With a warm luster and excellent weather resistance, enamel has long been used for pocket watch dials. The craftsman's well-honed experience and intuition are essential for its production, including the amount of glaze and firing time. This piece was created under the supervision of enamel craftsman Mitsuru Yokozawa, combining the insight and skills of Kazunori Uchiyama, who has inherited the craftsman's skills.
The dial incorporates the design of the "Timekeeper," Seiko's first pocket watch, manufactured in 1895. It features classic design elements such as Roman numeral indexes, a railway minute track, and a 24-hour display at 6 o'clock reminiscent of a small second hand. The hands are blue, creating a delightful contrast with the pure white enamel.
The tonneau-shaped case features an elegant design composed of smooth curves. The dual-curve sapphire crystal and conical crown create a soft atmosphere. The five links, polished and satin-finished, have a curved surface that improves the fit on the wrist.
The watch is powered by the Cal. 6R5H automatic movement, which has a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. The movement and finish, including the beating balance and gold-colored rotor, can be admired through the see-through case back.
