Swatch and the Guggenheim Museum release collaboration watches featuring masterpieces by Monet and Pollock

Swatch has launched the new "Swatch x Guggenheim Collection," a series inspired by 20th century art. This series, created in collaboration with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, features four models each depicting a masterpiece by the great masters Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Paul Klee, and Jackson Pollock.

　As the latest addition to its "Swatch Art Journey" project, Swatch has released four collaborative models with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy.

Swatch, which has been promoting the appeal of art under the concept of "making art accessible to everyone," has been in partnership with the Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art since the early 1990s. This new model uses 20th-century masterpieces housed in the museum and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice as motifs, and incorporates this worldview into the entire watch, including the resin case and strap.

　All four models in the lineup feature the same length second hand as a tribute to the transatlantic collaboration, and all are equipped with quartz movements and come in special packaging.

DEGAS'S DANCERS

　This model features Edgar Degas's "Dancers in Green and Yellow" (1903). Reflecting Degas's distinctive bold use of trimming, the dial features a close-up of the ballerina's feet. The strap also depicts the vibrant dancers and the texture of their swaying tutus, showcasing Degas's mastery of depicting movement.

MONET'S PALAZZO DUCALE

　The motif is Claude Monet's "The Palazzo Ducale, Seen from San Giorgio Maggiore" (1908). The dial depicts Venice's magnificent Doge's Palace, just like the painting, while the strap depicts the reflections of light on the water, recreating the luminous brushstrokes characteristic of Impressionism. As a playful touch, the dial of this watch glows a vibrant orange when exposed to UV light.

KLEE'S BAVARIAN DON GIOVANNI

　This model is inspired by Paul Klee's "The Bavarian Don Giovanni" (1919). Featuring irregular lines and vibrant colors, the dial features Klee's characters, while the strap features the names of the five women featured in the painting. The calendar wheel at 12 o'clock, which changes color with each day, is a reference to Klee's confession that "with each new soubrette (young woman) at the Opera, I changed my heart."

POLLOCK'S ALCHEMY

　This watch features a dynamic design inspired by Jackson Pollock's "Alchemy" (1947). The bold use of color recreates the "dripping" technique, in which a canvas is placed on the floor and paint is dripped onto it. The entire watch embodies the avant-garde spirit of Pollock, a pioneer of Abstract Expressionism.
