The Seamaster Aqua Terra, which was released in 2013 as the company's first wristwatch guaranteed to be magnetically resistant up to 15,000 gauss, has been revamped and released with a new model name: the Seamaster Aqua Terra Master Chronometer.
In this renewal, the wood deck-style stripes on the dial have been changed from vertical to horizontal on the previous model, and the calendar has been moved from the 3 o'clock position to the 6 o'clock position, among other design refinements.
The movement is another noteworthy feature of this new model. The Seamaster Aqua Terra Master Chronometer is available in two case diameters: 41mm and 38mm, with two movements available for each size. As the new model name suggests, both movements have been certified as Master Chronometers by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). METAS tests are conducted with COSC-certified movements mounted in their cases, testing their resistance to magnetic fields. This certification officially proves that the Seamaster Aqua Terra Master Chronometer can maintain its accuracy even when exposed to the 15,000 gauss magnetic field generated by MRI scans.
Another attractive feature is the wide variety of models available, not only in the case diameter mentioned above, but also in the case material and strap/bracelet options. There are 20 models available in the 41mm case and 12 models available in the 38mm case, with a wide price range from 58 yen to over 300 million yen.
