Louis Vuitton has announced the new "Louis Vuitton Camionette," a timepiece that follows on from the hot air balloon-inspired "Montgolfier" model, and is infused with the craftsmanship of the brand's proud watchmaking atelier, La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.
The motif is the Camionette, a Louis Vuitton delivery truck from the early 20th century. The company has a history of expanding its business by adopting automobiles early on, and the Camionette, which symbolizes this, embodies the "essence of travel" that the Maison values.
This regular model is finished in the iconic saffron and blue coloring. It is based on the delivery trucks used by Louis Vuitton in the early 20th century. Manual winding (Cal. The body of the car is made of lightweight and durable aluminum. It is finished in the iconic saffron and blue color scheme. It is meticulously crafted down to the smallest details, including the Monogram Flower on the hood, the LV logo on the radiator grille, and the Louis Vuitton signature on the wheels. The address of the store on the Champs-Élysées is printed on the side.
This model is equipped with the Cal.MV.7417/101, a mechanical hand-wound movement manufactured by L'Epée, a subsidiary of the LVMH Group. The time is displayed by rotating two cylinders visible from the hood. The balance wheel can be viewed from the driver's seat. The movement is wound with a special key, boasting a power reserve of approximately eight days. The key is stored in a miniature trunk-shaped case mounted on a truck.
Additionally, a limited edition of 15 Louis Vuitton Camionette models are available in gold. The car is adorned with hand-set gemstones, including an LV Monogram star-cut diamond on the hood, snow-set diamonds and a gold-colored Louis Vuitton signature on the radiator grille, round diamonds on the headlights, and red and orange baguette-cut sapphires on the taillights. The side of the car is hand-guilloched with a Damier pattern, showcasing Louis Vuitton's sophisticated craftsmanship.
