Leading Japanese creators have produced works based on the theme "THE NATURE OF TIME".
It has been announced that Grand Seiko will be exhibiting at "Milan Design Week 2026," the world's largest design festival, which will be held in Milan, Italy, from April 21st (Tuesday) to 26th (Sunday), 2026. In previous Milan Design Weeks, the company has presented installations that express the essence of time, drawing inspiration from Japanese nature and the changing seasons, under the philosophy of "THE NATURE OF TIME."
For this exhibition, Toshiki Kiriyama of TRUNK Inc. will serve as producer, presenting works by three creators: Atsushi Shindo, Takakuni Kawahara, and Shingo Abe. The focus in creating the works is on the dial, the face of a wristwatch, which condenses a spirit of living in harmony with nature and the skills of master craftsmen. Each installation is born from the "NATURE" that resides within it.

"PULSE OF TIME" is an installation by Atsushi Shindo, who develops a wide range of works under the theme of "Cultivating Atmospheres." The work envisions a clock dial as a miniature universe, extending the delicate multi-layered nature created by the refraction of light and depth into the space.

Takakuni Kawahara, known as the sole successor of Birudan washi (a type of Japanese paper), will present two installations, "aurora" and "Utsuroi" (transition).

In aurora, the gentle life of light is expressed by varying the thickness and papermaking techniques of washi paper in a gradient. Utsuroi is a series of works that center on the delicacy and dynamism of washi paper, and are based on motifs such as flower rafts, snow white, frost-covered trees, water surfaces, and birch trees, which are also featured in the dials of Grand Seiko watches.

The work created by CG director Shingo Abe is titled "story." It is a video work that depicts how new landscapes are born from the chain of light and shadow created by natural scenery, such as falling flower petals, accumulating snow, blowing wind, and shadows moving among the trees.
